The @arbitrum network posted its strongest month on record in September 2026, generating more than $5 million in chain revenue and marking a roughly 500% increase from the prior month. The headline figure underscores how quickly Arbitrum's monetization model has matured since the launch of Robinhood Chain earlier this year.
A Record Fuelled by Orbit Licensing
According to data released by the Arbitrum Foundation, total network revenue for September reached $5.45 million, a new all-time high for a single month. Of that, $4.75 million came from Orbit licensing fees, roughly 87% of the total, rather than from direct transaction activity on Arbitrum One itself. Much of that licensing income is linked to @RobinhoodCrypto's Robinhood Chain, which launched its public mainnet on July 1, 2026, built on Arbitrum's Orbit technology stack.
Under the Arbitrum Expansion Program, any Orbit-based chain settling outside Arbitrum One or Arbitrum Nova returns 10% of its net protocol revenue to the Arbitrum ecosystem. Of that 10%, 8% flows to the ArbitrumDAO treasury and 2% to the Arbitrum Developer Guild. Robinhood Chain's heavy trading volumes through September translated directly into a material licensing payout for the DAO.
$ARB has also continued to see strong on-chain usage in 2026, having processed approximately $1.5 billion in additional transactions over the course of the year.
Strong Growth, But Context Matters
The September record builds on an already impressive first half. The Arbitrum Foundation's unaudited H1 2026 report showed the DAO generated $6.19 million across Arbitrum One transaction fees, Timeboost, Orbit licensing, and treasury management over the first six months of the year. The September figure alone nearly matches that entire first-half total, illustrating the pace at which Robinhood Chain has scaled.
Investors and analysts should note, however, that the bulk of September's revenue was concentrated in a single income category. Licensing fees from one high-activity partner can fluctuate significantly between months, and it remains to be seen whether this level of Orbit fee income will persist as Robinhood Chain's trading volumes normalise following the end of its free-gas promotion on September 29. Direct network activity on Arbitrum One, while growing, contributed a much smaller share of the total.
The results nonetheless demonstrate the commercial potential of Arbitrum's infrastructure licensing model, and set a clear precedent for other regulated financial institutions that may look to build on the Orbit stack in the months ahead.
