Avalanche Posts Weekly High in Daily Fees
Avalanche ($AVAX) recorded its strongest day of fee generation last week, pulling in roughly $20,000 in daily transaction fees on September 20. According to @BSCNews, the figure represented the highest single-day revenue the network produced across the entire week.
The data point is notable in context. DefiLlama shows Avalanche's chain fees and chain revenue tracking closely together, with all transaction fees going directly to the protocol rather than to validators. That is by design: on Avalanche, 100% of transaction fees are burned, meaning higher fee days have a direct deflationary effect on AVAX supply.
Fee Burns and Network Economics
Avalanche's fee mechanics work on a simple but consequential principle. Every transaction on the network pays a base fee and an optional priority fee, and those fees are burned permanently. When the total value burned in a given period exceeds staking rewards paid out, net AVAX supply contracts. Higher-activity days such as September 20 therefore carry supply implications beyond just headline revenue numbers.
The broader network context is mixed. Token Terminal data shows Avalanche generated approximately $145,500 in chain fees over the past 30 days, a figure that is up sharply on a month-over-month basis. The network also recorded around 1.6 million monthly active users and processed 45 million transactions over the same period. DeFi TVL, however, has softened from earlier highs, sitting closer to $630 million at current readings.
AVAX itself has moved sharply higher in recent days. CoinGecko places the token up more than 52% over the past seven days, trading at around $11.12 as of September 21. Whether the uptick in fee activity and price are reinforcing each other or simply coinciding remains to be seen, but the September 20 daily fee peak at least signals that network usage picked up meaningfully over the weekend.
