Binance is overhauling its account structure in one of its most significant platform changes in recent years. Starting September 29, 2026, the exchange will begin a phased migration of cryptocurrency assets from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts, with the process expected to run through January 2027.

What Changes and When

Effective September 29, 2026, Funding Accounts will no longer support on-chain deposits, while deposits and withdrawals for other crypto tokens will be supported through Spot Accounts. Users who prefer not to wait can act ahead of time. Binance will automatically migrate remaining eligible balances in batches beginning January 2027 without manual action.

P2P advertisers will receive dedicated accounts in December before unmigrated advertisements close after January 2027. Binance says total balances and historical transaction records will remain unchanged.

A Dedicated Home for Stock and Options Trading

The rebrand signals that Binance is separating its crypto trading infrastructure from its stock and options trading infrastructure at the account level. At the end of the migration period, Funding Accounts will be renamed Stocks Account and will be used only for stock and stock-options trading settlement.

Binance users will be able to use the six settlement assets, USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and $BNB, for stocks and stock-options trading through the renamed Stocks Account. Notably, a separate distinction applies to bStocks. Binance's tokenized securities will not remain inside the Stocks Account even though their prices track equities. Existing bStock balances held in Funding Accounts can move through One-Click Migration and will otherwise transfer automatically to Spot beginning in January.

Direct stock trading on Binance already offers eligible users more than 7,000 U.S. securities globally. The account restructure draws a cleaner line between the exchange's crypto and equities offerings, giving each a dedicated infrastructure layer.
