Cardano’s node infrastructure is also expanding through Amaru, an open-source implementation developed in Rust as an alternative to the Haskell node. According to Intersect, Amaru can operate as a relay while validating network activity and synchronizing with the Cardano blockchain tip. Developers are targeting November 2026 for the node to begin producing blocks on the mainnet.
Moreover, Amaru aims to provide a fully interoperable block-producing option for stake pool operators and Cardano developers. Its design emphasizes modular architecture alongside hardware requirements intended to support broader deployment options.
Node diversity could strengthen Cardano’s infrastructure by reducing its dependence on one software implementation. Additionally, multiple implementations give operators greater flexibility when selecting the infrastructure supporting their network participation.
Governance Changes Prepare Cardano for Dijkstra
Cardano is also adjusting its governance framework to accommodate protocol parameters introduced through Dijkstra, including those connected with Ouroboros Leios. Under Cardano’s Constitution, governance cannot modify protocol parameters unless the Constitution’s Guardrails explicitly include them. Consequently, the planned Dijkstra features require corresponding constitutional provisions before governance can manage those parameters.
Contributors intend to introduce the required parameters through one coordinated constitutional amendment instead of multiple separate proposals. This approach would establish governance coverage across Dijkstra’s planned capabilities through a unified update.
