Key Insights:
- Cathie Wood adds Circle shares worth about $6.83 million across three ARK ETFs.
- NYDFS approved Circle to operate as a New York limited-purpose trust company.
- CRCL fell 2.54% as ARK also bought CoreWeave and a Solana staking ETF.
Cathie Wood added Circle shares as ARK Invest expands its exposure to the USDC issuer. The purchase follows a New York regulatory milestone. The investment manager bought 109,129 CRCL shares across three actively managed exchange-traded funds on July 31. The position was worth about $6.83 million using Circle’s current price of $62.61.
CRCL still ended 2.54% lower, showing that the charter approval did not immediately lift market demand. ARK also purchased CoreWeave and a Solana staking ETF while reducing several software and technology holdings.

Cathie Wood Adds Circle Shares Across Three ARK Funds
ARK’s daily trade disclosure showed the ARK Innovation ETF bought 77,103 Circle shares. That purchase represented 0.0833% of the fund’s portfolio.
The ARK Next Generation Internet ETF added 22,238 shares, equal to 0.0842% of its assets. Meanwhile, the ARK Fintech Innovation ETF purchased 9,788 shares, representing 0.0839% of that fund.
Together, the three transactions produced a total of 109,129 shares. The allocation spread also kept the purchase balanced across ARK’s main innovations, internet, and fintech strategies.
Cathie Wood added Circle shares after the company secured approval to conduct business as a New York limited-purpose trust company. The New York Department of Financial Services recorded the approval on July 27. The agency had received Circle Internet Trust Company’s organizational filing in February.
The charter places Circle’s trust entity under New York banking supervision. Limited-purpose trust companies cannot generally accept deposits or issue ordinary loans. They may conduct approved fiduciary, custody, and related financial activities under state oversight.
Cathie Wood Adds Circle Shares After Regulatory Progress
The New York approval strengthens Circle’s regulated structure around USDC and institutional digital-asset services. It also follows a separate federal milestone secured earlier in July.
Circle received final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 10. That decision allowed the company to establish Circle National Trust as a national trust bank. According to Circle’s official announcement, the entity would support institutional custody, with reserve management planned as a future capability.
ARK Invest Circle stock purchases, therefore, arrive during a broader expansion of Circle’s regulated infrastructure. However, CRCL’s 2.54% decline to $62.61 suggests investors are still weighing valuation, execution, and revenue risks.

The share purchase also extends ARK’s recent accumulation pattern. Earlier July disclosures showed additional Circle buying across ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF. The stock traded near the low-$60 range during those purchases.
Cathie Wood adds Circle shares as the stablecoin issuer expands beyond revenue. Circle recently acquired more than 680 IBM blockchain patent families and nearly 1,000 issued patents worldwide. The assets cover blockchain infrastructure, banking, insurance, and secure cloud operations.
ARK Adds CoreWeave and Solana ETF While Trimming Tech
ARK invest also increased its CoreWeave position through two funds. ARKK purchased 208,228 shares, its largest Friday trade by portfolio weight at 0.2601%.
ARKW bought an additional 90,015 CoreWeave shares, representing 0.3945% of the fund. Combined purchases reached 298,243 shares in the artificial intelligence infrastructure company.
Additionally, ARKW and ARKF purchased shares of the 3iQ Solana Staking ETF. The fund gives ARK indirect exposure to Solana and staking-linked returns through a listed investment product.
On the sell side, ARK reduced Shopify across ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF. ARKW also sold CrowdStrike and Cloudflare, with CrowdStrike accounting for the largest share of its sales.
ARKK trimmed Snowflake and 10x Genomics. Other ARK funds reduced Iridium Communications, Komatsu, and Strata Critical Medical while adding Pony AI and Kodiak AI.
