WHAT CHANGED
Anthropic has renamed Max 20x to Ultra, moving existing subscribers automatically without changing their price. Its current web price is $200 per month before applicable tax; mobile pricing may differ. An editorial note on Anthropic’s website identifies October 30 as the plan-name transition.
The operational change is conditional: verified Ultra accounts no longer have a five-hour usage limit. The published allowance remains bounded, at ten times Pro usage per week. Other limits can apply, and Anthropic does not promise uninterrupted access.
WHY THE LIMIT WINDOW MATTERS
A short-session ceiling can interrupt concentrated work even when a subscriber still has weekly capacity. Removing that ceiling lets eligible users allocate more of their allowance to a long task or a busy day. That is flexibility in timing, not unlimited computing or a guarantee that an agent will finish a job.
The old “20x” name and today’s weekly “10x” description are not enough to calculate a capacity cut. They do not establish a like-for-like historical comparison. Model choice, conversation length and file size also affect how quickly usage is consumed.
WHAT TO CHECK NEXT
Anthropic says verification is automatic and considers account and payment history. Phone verification at checkout is separate. An unverified account can still face a temporary limit.
For a long workflow, the practical checks are the account’s verification status and remaining weekly allowance, not the plan name alone. Watch for changes to the published limits and for evidence of how reliably long tasks finish; this announcement supplies no completion-rate benchmark.
