DTCC (@The_DTCC) will launch its Tokenization Service this month on the @CantonNetwork and Besu, DTCC's private network. The service starts with 25 stocks, ETFs and US Treasuries, tokenized 1:1 with securities held at DTC and transferable 24/7 between registered wallets. DTCC puts the pool of assets available to tokenize at about $30 trillion.

@StellarOrg and Circle's @arc are expected to join in 2027, per DTCC's roadmap, which the company says may still change.

From no-action letter to commercial launch

The rollout follows a December 2025 no-action letter from the US Securities and Exchange Commission. According to DTCC, the letter authorizes its subsidiary, the Depository Trust Company (DTC), to offer a tokenization service on pre-approved blockchains for three years. The digital version carries the same entitlements, investor protections and ownership rights as the traditional asset.

The authorization covers a defined set of liquid assets. These include the Russell 1000, which tracks the 1,000 largest publicly traded US companies by market capitalization, as well as ETFs tracking major indices and US Treasury bills, bonds and notes, DTCC said.

The service has already seen live activity. Crypto.news reported that more than 30 firms took part in production transactions on July 15 using tokenized representations of assets held at DTC. The conversions ran across DTCC's private Besu network and the public Canton Network. The transactions included securities lending, collateral pledges, equity transfers and US Treasury repurchase agreements.

Stellar and Arc on the 2027 roadmap

DTCC and the Stellar Development Foundation announced in May that DTC-tokenized assets are expected to go live on the Stellar network in the first half of 2027, according to Ledger Insights. The outlet noted that Stellar becomes the second public blockchain connected to the service after Canton.

DTCC's roadmap also lists Circle's Arc for 2027, per the company. The timeline is not fixed and may change.

The multi-chain approach reflects DTCC's stated aim of widening access to tokenized assets while keeping the same safeguards participants have at DTC today. DTC currently custodies assets valued at over $114 trillion, DTCC said. The $30 trillion figure cited for assets available to tokenize is a subset of that total.
