Hedera (HBAR), the native token of the Hedera public distributed ledger, has caught the attention of technical analysts as price action compresses within two key chart patterns. Short-term and long-term signals are on the radar as experts debate the token’s next major move.

Short-term: Falling wedge pattern matures

Technical analyst More Crypto Online has pointed out a falling wedge forming on the HBAR price chart. In this classic pattern, prices create lower highs and lower lows, squeezed between converging descending trendlines. Such formations are typically monitored for potential strong breakouts as the trading range contracts toward the wedge’s apex.

The analyst has chosen not to give a firm price target for HBAR, instead focusing on the readiness of the pattern. “The pattern is mature enough to matter,” he remarked, underlining that price direction will hinge on whether the wedge breaks upward or downward, and whether trading volume supports the move.

In a falling wedge, the crucial factor is not merely the appearance of the pattern, but the strength and volume of the breakout if it occurs.

Long-term: Multi-year compression builds pressure

ChartNerdTA, another prominent technical analyst, took a broader perspective by highlighting nearly six years of price compression for HBAR. He described the ongoing contraction as “eventually ending with violence,” emphasizing that extended periods of tightening price action often resolve with sudden and forceful moves, not gradual shifts.

Classical chartists frequently view prolonged consolidation phases as precursors to sharp directional moves once the range finally breaks. In this case, any breakout from the long-standing compression zone could signal the start of a new sustained trend for HBAR.

Mini dictionary: Hedera is a public distributed ledger known for its unique hashgraph consensus mechanism, which aims to provide fast, secure, and fair transactions compared to traditional blockchains.

Market outlook hinges on wedge resolution

The intersection of the falling wedge and the long-term compression has created a scenario in which a clean break from the wedge could be interpreted as the first sign the larger consolidation is ending. However, if HBAR price fails to break above the wedge or instead falls below its lower bound, analysts suggest the extended range could persist, delaying a decisive move.

Despite rising anticipation, commentators are not promoting HBAR as an imminent breakout contender. Instead, both More Crypto Online and ChartNerdTA stress the importance of closely tracking price pattern developments and waiting for clear confirmation before expecting significant moves.

When market structures like these finally resolve, the resulting move is often sharp and unexpected, not gradual or subdued.

For now, crypto market participants continue to watch HBAR closely, noting that its technical setup presents the classic ingredients for a large move—timing and direction, however, remain uncertain.
