Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP memecoin has placed 10 million tokens on track to be burned after two event-linked conditions resolved Yes, representing 1% of the token’s original 1 billion supply. Digital artist Mike Winkelmann, better known as Beeple, triggered the first confirmed condition by publicly referencing LAPTOP.
The burn has not yet been finalized on the project’s public tokenomics tracker. LAPTOP’s burned-supply counter remained at zero at the latest check, while the project said the 10 million tokens would be removed within the first week of launch.
LAPTOP’s event criteria assign 5 million tokens, or 0.5% of total supply, to a public acknowledgement of the memecoin by Beeple before September 9, 2029. The reference must unmistakably concern the token rather than Hunter Biden’s physical laptop or the political controversy surrounding it.
The project identified Beeple as the first resolved event and said a second condition had also resolved Yes, bringing the pending burn to 10 million tokens. Its launch update did not identify that second condition.
Eric Trump separately mocked LAPTOP’s turbulent debut after quote-posting a message about the token’s collapse and telling Hunter Biden to return to painting. LAPTOP’s resolution framework includes a separate 5 million-token condition for a qualifying public reference from either Eric Trump or Donald Trump Jr., although the project has not publicly identified that condition as the second resolved event.
LAPTOP assigns 30% of its supply to 30 predefined real-world events. A successful condition sends its associated allocation toward permanent destruction, while tokens attached to outcomes that fail by their deadlines are redirected to charity.
The mechanism formed part of the token’s pre-launch structure before trading began on Base on September 9. Other allocations include 30% for founders, 20% for airdrops, 10% for liquidity, 5% for the foundation treasury and 5% for charity.
The pending burn follows LAPTOP’s 99.6% launch collapse, after the token surged to $199.51 before rapidly reversing. The project attributed the early volatility to insufficient initial market-maker liquidity and automated sniper activity, then allocated 4 million LAPTOP to Aerodrome liquidity incentives.
LAPTOP was trading near $0.38 at the latest check, placing the nominal market value of the 10 million tokens scheduled for destruction near $3.8 million. CoinGecko listed the token about 99.8% below its September 9 all-time high, with roughly 360 million LAPTOP in circulating supply.
