Why AI Needs an Identity Check

Artificial intelligence is outgrowing its basic chatbot phase. Soon, these systems will browse the web, make independent decisions, and spend your money online. This evolution brings up a massive, often ignored problem. How does a digital assistant prove it actually represents you? How does a website know exactly what your bot is allowed to do?

Kenneth Shek, the CEO of Moca Network, believes digital identity is the missing piece. In an exclusive interview at Token2049 in Singapore, he explained why this matters. For years, digital identity projects struggled to find a real reason to exist. Now, AI agents have handed them one.

The Loyalty Point Dilemma

Think about booking a flight. When you do it yourself, the airline recognizes your frequent flyer account. You get loyalty points. You receive custom offers. But when your AI assistant tries to book that same flight, the airline's system just sees a faceless bot. It might even block the traffic. The airline simply treats it like anonymous spam.

This creates a serious roadblock for automated shopping. Nobody wants to give up their hard-earned miles or personalized discounts just so a bot can do the heavy lifting. The convenience is not worth the cost if delegating tasks means losing out on your usual perks.

Setting Boundaries for Bots

Moca Network wants to fix this broken system. They are building infrastructure specifically designed for agent identity. This technology lives under their AIRAGENT banner. One tool is called AgentVerify. It controls exactly what personal details your bot can share with third parties. Another tool, AgentBuy, acts like a strict digital allowance. It sets hard limits on how much your AI can spend and what it can buy. This ensures your bot does not accidentally empty your bank account.

Taking Back Digital Control

The company is also making a big shift by moving their technology to a public network. Moca Chain recently transitioned from a private setup to a fully public one. It is not just another random blockchain. Shek noted that they built it from the ground up for one specific purpose. That purpose is keeping your data in your own hands.

The main goal is straightforward. You and your AI keep everything locked under keys you control. You can lend out your information temporarily. You never have to give it away forever to big tech platforms.

Packing Up Your Data

This setup solves another massive headache regarding data portability. Right now, if you spend months training an AI to learn your habits, that data is trapped. Switch to a new provider, and you have to start completely from scratch. A user-owned data layer changes the game entirely. You can literally pack up your context and take it with you to any new app or agent.

According to Shek, better privacy alone will never get people to care about digital identity. It has actually to make their lives easier and create real economic value.

The Road Ahead for Smart Commerce

Moca Network aims to be the central hub where all this agent data gets checked and verified. Every permission and transaction will be recorded safely on their ledger. The market for this might be tiny today. However, Shek predicts it will explode into a major industry within the next three to five years.

This bold gamble puts the company at the intersection of blockchain and artificial intelligence. We are moving toward a world where bots do our online chores. When that happens, proving who your bot is will matter just as much as how smart it is. Without a trusted ID, even the smartest AI is just another anonymous visitor stuck at the door.
