Crypto researcher SMQKE has recently linked two developments involving major financial institutions, Ripple Treasury and the global payments network SWIFT.
The post points to Bank of America and J.P. Morgan as Ripple Treasury clients while highlighting their participation in a new SWIFT initiative for international consumer money transfers.
The developments place Ripple Treasury’s technology within a financial environment that includes some of the world’s largest banks. However, the relationship described in the available information concerns treasury software and bank connectivity, rather than direct evidence that Bank of America or J.P. Morgan are using XRP for the transfers.
SMQKE Highlights Bank of America and J.P. Morgan
SMQKE wrote that “AUGUST 2026: RIPPLE TREASURY CLIENTS BOA AND J.P. MORGAN LAUNCH LIVE SWIFT INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS,” adding that the development was documented.
The accompanying BusinessWire material dated August 5, 2026, reports that Bank of America and J.P. Morgan are among the first financial institutions to go live on a new global SWIFT initiative designed to improve the experience for consumers sending and receiving international transfers.
The announcement places the two institutions among early participants in an initiative focused on international money transfers. The development is separate from Ripple’s payment infrastructure, although SMQKE highlighted the connection because both banks also appear within Ripple Treasury’s growing network of treasury technology integrations.
Ripple Treasury Expands Its Bank Connectivity
The second image attached to SMQKE’s post highlights Ripple Treasury, powered by GTreasury, and its ClearConnect Gateway. The platform allows treasury teams and chief financial officers to access current-day and prior-day balance and transaction reporting from participating banks.
The material identifies DBS, OCBC, ICBC, Barclays and BNP Paribas among the banks available through the Gateway. It also states that the integration adds to Ripple Treasury’s existing ClearConnect connections, which include Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, J.P. Morgan Chase, PNC, U.S. Bank, Citibank and Wells Fargo, among others.
This places Bank of America and J.P. Morgan within Ripple Treasury’s broader treasury software ecosystem. It does not establish that either institution is using XRP through this relationship.
An X user, Jacob Marquez, specifically praised SMQKE for describing Bank of America and J.P. Morgan as “treasury clients” rather than “partners.” He noted that many posts discussing the development were using the term incorrectly.
Marquez explained that GTreasury customers using SWIFT represent a software relationship and not an XRP relationship. He nevertheless described the development as meaningful, arguing that Ripple now has a position within the treasury technology stack of major banks it previously sought to serve.
The distinction matters because the developments involve separate technologies and use cases. SWIFT’s initiative concerns international transfers, while Ripple Treasury provides treasury management and bank connectivity capabilities. Neither the SWIFT announcement nor the information provided by SMQKE establishes that Bank of America or J.P. Morgan use XRP for their SWIFT transfers.
For the XRP community, the development therefore provides evidence of growing enterprise integration around Ripple Treasury, while the specific SWIFT activity should be viewed independently from XRP usage.
