Trump, SEC Chair Atkins, and top industry executives to meet Wednesday as fate of crypto legislation remains uncertain.
The White House will host a high‑stakes crypto summit on Wednesday, bringing together top executives from Ripple, Coinbase, Chainlink, and Wall Street giants as the Clarity Act hangs in the balance.
President Trump, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, and CFTC officials are expected to attend alongside industry leaders including a16z, Kraken, Gemini, the New York Stock Exchange, and Nasdaq. Prediction‑market firms Kalshi and Paradigm are also on the guest list.
The meeting comes at a pivotal moment for the Clarity Act, the crypto market‑structure bill that stalled in the Senate before the August recess. The bill remains on the Senate calendar, but its path to passage is uncertain with only 51 confirmed votes and 60 needed to overcome a filibuster.
Wednesday’s gathering also serves as a kick‑off for the CFTC’s 35‑person Innovation Advisory Committee, which convenes on Thursday. Organizers had initially hoped to host the event earlier in the summer.
For the crypto industry, the summit represents a rare opportunity to engage directly with the White House and top regulators at a critical juncture. The Clarity Act would provide a comprehensive federal framework for digital assets, ending the “regulation by enforcement” approach that has dominated U.S. crypto policy.
Its passage would be a major catalyst for institutional adoption, while failure would likely push meaningful legislation into 2027.
