XRP may be heading into a sharp move, though analyst Ali Martinez says the signal comes with a catch.

Martinez said the Bollinger Bands on XRP’s 4-hour chart have squeezed to their narrowest levels since August. The last time they were this compressed, XRP rallied 71% in just three days.

“XRP: A BIG MOVE IS COMING The Bollinger Bands on the 4-hour chart have squeezed to their narrowest levels since August. The last time they were this compressed, XRP rallied 71% in just three days,” he wrote in the post on X.

The levels traders are watching

Martinez marked two thresholds. A 4-hour close above $1.27 would be bullish, while a close below $1.23 would be bearish.

“But a squeeze doesn’t predict direction. That’s why I’m watching: • 4H close above $1.27 = Bullish • 4H close below $1.23 = Bearish Until then, $1.23–$1.27 is the no-trade zone,” he wrote in the post.

In other words, the 71% surge is a reference point from the past, not a forecast. The squeeze points to a bigger move ahead, and the direction is still undecided.

What he said earlier

The latest call follows a more bullish read from Martinez last month. He said that he had spotted several TD Sequential buy signals with XRP at $1.317.

According to Martinez, XRP flashed a Sequential 13, followed by a TD 9 and an Aggressive 13. He said the pattern suggested selling pressure was losing momentum and that a local bottom could be forming.

If buyers stepped in, he expected a rebound toward $1.40, with resistance near $1.50 next.

TheStreet noted at the time that XRP, with a market capitalization of $82.5 billion, was the fifth-largest cryptocurrency.

Together, the two calls show Martinez moving from a rebound view to a wait-for-confirmation stance. A close outside the $1.23 to $1.27 range would give traders the direction the squeeze does not.

Last week, he warned that XRP was under fresh pressure as on-chain data hinted that some of its biggest holders were stepping back.

In an X thread, he said that XRP could fall to $0.98 if whales continued selling, citing Santiment data.
