A pre-effective amendment to a Form S-1 registration statement landed at the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 23, 2026.

The filing covers the Cryptex Digital Market Cap ETF, incorporated in the Cayman Islands and managed through Cryptex Finance, LLC. The fund operates a tiered selection process across 36 digital assets. After additional fund screening, 24 assets qualify for inclusion. XRP is one of them.

XRP’s Weight Rises After Screening

Crypto investor Pumpius flagged the development, noting in a tweet that XRP carries a 4.36% index weight. After the fund’s secondary screening process, that figure rises to 4.41%.

The allocation increases rather than decreasing, which Pumpius described as significant. Most assets either hold their weight or lose ground in a tighter screening round. XRP moves in the other direction.

Pumpius has been tracking the relationship between institutional capital, fund structures, and XRP’s role in global finance. The weight increase after screening stood out to him as evidence that XRP does not simply qualify for institutional products. It performs better under stricter criteria than it does under broader ones.

Institutional Buying and Retail Price

Commentator Luciano Tavares offered context on why institutional activity may not immediately show up in retail price data. “The exchanges still record few cents and dollar per token because institutions can buy it in the OTC market,” Tavares said. “So the demand and supply in the retail market remains low profile price.”

Institutions access XRP through over-the-counter channels, which keeps visible exchange volume relatively contained. Retail markets see less of that activity in real time. Tavares added that the dynamic “might take some time for while maybe a year,” and called patience a virtue. The lag between institutional accumulation and visible price movement is a known feature of OTC-heavy markets.

Cryptex and the Institutional Stack

The Cryptex Digital Market Cap ETF represents one piece of a growing institutional structure around digital assets. The fund’s five-tier model applies a screening process that goes beyond simple market cap rankings. XRP’s weight increase after that process places it among a smaller group of assets that clear multi-stage institutional criteria.

The filing was submitted by Cryptex Finance, LLC, based in Sheridan, Wyoming, with legal representation from Chapman and Cutler LLP in Chicago. The registration carries number 333-294594 and remains pre-effective as of the filing date. A commencement of sale to the public will follow once the SEC declares the statement effective.
