XRP’s share of the total cryptocurrency market fell from roughly 5% in July 2025 to about 3% by October 2026, as Ripple’s native token lost ground despite ongoing institutional developments.

XRP Valuation Suffers Steep Decline

XRP reached prices near $3.42 in July 2025, with around 59.2 billion tokens circulating at that time. By mid-October 2026, the price declined to $1.34 while the circulating supply expanded to 63.1 billion XRP.

The combined effect of lower prices and increased supply saw XRP’s market capitalization drop from approximately $202 billion to $85 billion. This change represents a $117 billion decrease, amounting to a reduction of around 58% in overall market value.

While market capitalization tracks the total valuation of a crypto asset, market dominance measures its share relative to the broader market. An asset can lose market share even if it gains value, particularly if other cryptocurrencies experience stronger growth in the same period.

Competition from assets such as BNB and major stablecoins continues to put pressure on XRP’s ranking, taking up more of the total digital asset market and contributing to the token’s declining market share.

XRP’s slide in market share demonstrates that sustaining both price and dominance can be challenging, especially as larger blockchain ecosystems and rival assets draw greater investor interest and liquidity.

Institutional Adoption Outpaces Native Token Demand

Ripple has advanced its institutional services, expanding in areas like cross-border payments and asset tokenization with several high-profile partnerships. In September, a major Brazilian infrastructure provider managing approximately $4 trillion in assets integrated the XRP Ledger to reflect investment fund ownership records.

The growing tokenization sector signals increased institutional interest in blockchain-based settlement and asset issuance, yet such developments have not fueled a comparable increase in demand for XRP itself.

XRPL documentation shows that standard transactions only require a minimum fee of 10 drops, or 0.00001 XRP. As a result, even major spikes in network activity can translate into minimal demand for the native token, explaining the disconnect between ecosystem progress and XRP price dynamics.

A further complication involves XRP’s circulating supply, which continues to climb as new tokens are released from escrow each month. However, these newly available tokens are not always immediately sold, as unused amounts may be relocked according to the network’s schedule.

Traders monitoring technical patterns and market behavior often look for indicators beyond simple price action to anticipate token trends. In the meme token sector, for instance, an internet trend can trigger considerable trading volumes in a matter of days. Data from Fomo App highlights a notable trade in which a $99 purchase of “Niu Lai” was transformed into roughly $370,000, underscoring the rapid shifts seen in this part of the market. To navigate this volatility, tracking both price levels and investor moves has become increasingly vital. Fomo App consolidates these features by combining token research, real-time trading, social feeds, and investor rankings on one platform, providing a single point of access for following meme token activity.

While Ripple’s institutional business continues to expand, actual transaction fees on the network remain low, meaning increased adoption does not always result in proportional XRP demand or price appreciation.
