Aster DEX (@Aster_DEX) has begun winding down the legacy APX contract of ApolloX, the exchange that preceded the current platform. The process started at 10:00 UTC on Tuesday and is expected to finish within 48 hours. Protocol-owned funds are being moved to Aster through its bridge.
Users who still hold balances or open positions on ApolloX are being urged to close them and withdraw before the process ends.
From ApolloX to Aster
ApolloX launched in 2021. CryptoSlate reported that Aster first launched as ApolloX in 2021 before merging with Astherus in late 2024. The combined platform publicly rebranded as Aster on March 31, 2025, according to Cryptonews, which describes the deal as bringing together APX Finance's trading engine and Astherus's yield-bearing collateral products.
The merger was followed by a token migration. APX holders were able to swap their tokens for $ASTER at a 1:1 ratio, a ratio confirmed by exchanges including MEXC, which stopped supporting swaps and deposits for old APX tokens once the contract swap was complete. IQ.wiki notes that the swap program began on September 17, 2025, alongside the ASTER token launch.
What the shutdown means for users
With the swap complete and the platform consolidated under the Aster brand, the closure of the legacy APX contract removes the last remnants of the original ApolloX infrastructure. Anyone who has not yet moved funds should check their ApolloX balances and open positions and withdraw them before the 48-hour window closes.
Aster describes itself as a decentralized perpetual exchange. Cryptonews reports that its Layer 1 network, Aster Chain, launched its mainnet in March 2026, giving the exchange independent infrastructure after years of operating on $BNB Chain. The same report says Aster now supports trading across Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana in addition to its home network.
The Aster team has not been reported to have given further details on how any remaining user funds will be handled after the 48-hour window. Users should follow official Aster channels for updates.
