@BitGo has extended its institutional custody infrastructure to the @Aptos network, announcing WalletConnect-powered connectivity for self-custody clients with @DecibelTrade, a decentralized exchange built on Aptos.
Custody Meets On-Chain Trading
The move closes a longstanding gap in institutional crypto infrastructure. The integration addresses the disconnect between regulated custody and on-chain market access, as institutions previously needed separate wallet setups and trading workflows to access decentralized exchanges while maintaining assets with regulated custodians.
The integration allows institutions to connect BitGo self-custody MPC wallets to Decibel through WalletConnect, initiate trades from the Decibel interface, and approve transactions through BitGo's MPC infrastructure and wallet policy engine.Institutional clients may elect to access Decibel while keeping assets in their BitGo-connected wallets and retaining existing transaction controls.
Decibel operates as a decentralized exchange for spot and perpetual trading on the Aptos network, which provides blockchain infrastructure with sub-second finality. The project was co-developed with support from the Decibel Foundation and Aptos Labs.
Controls Remain Intact
Existing controls, including address whitelisting and multi-party approval workflows, carry through the entire trading process.Customers can access Decibel without transferring assets to a separate wallet or modifying their approval workflows.
The announcement fits into a broader push by @BitGo to bring institutional clients into DeFi without sacrificing compliance. BitGo maintains a global presence and multiple regulated entities, including BitGo Bank and Trust, National Association, the first federally chartered digital asset trust bank owned by a publicly traded company.
The Decibel integration follows earlier steps by BitGo to deepen its presence on Aptos. BitGo now supports custody for assets built on the Aptos Digital Asset Standard, including stablecoins such as USDC and USDT, providing institutions with a regulated solution to manage their Aptos-based assets.
