Coinbase wants Canadians to think of it as their sole financial destination, not just a place to buy Bitcoin. Eric Richmond, CEO of Coinbase Canada, told BNN Bloomberg this week that the company is actively moving to bring its ‘Everything Exchange’ north of the border.
The concept bundles crypto, stocks, ETFs (funds tracking baskets of assets such as the S&P 500), and prediction markets (platforms where users stake real money on outcomes of elections, sports events, and other real-world results) into a single app account. Richmond framed the ambition in direct terms: ‘I think chapter one of Coinbase in Canada was really about being a crypto exchange. But now phase two of that is the Everything Exchange. How do we create that one place for Canadians to have their entire financial experience in one app that is underpinned by this technology that makes things frictionless, seamless, and 24/7?’
