A decade of speculation is turning into execution. Ripple is moving to integrate XRP across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and central banking institutions, expanding cross-border stablecoin initiatives with Visa and Mastercard also in the picture.
Digital Asset Investor (@digitalassetbuy) recently covered this development and paired it with key commentary from Ripple’s CTO Emeritus David Schwartz, making the case that XRP’s high value is not a hope but a structural inevitability.
David Schwartz on XRP Value
Digital Asset Investor highlighted comments Schwartz made on X. Schwartz views a scenario where XRPL succeeds in financial applications while XRP fails to gain high demand and value as highly unlikely.
Digital Asset Investor also relayed Schwartz’s position on what happens even if Bitcoin dominates global settlement. Schwartz argued that XRPL’s success would still generate demand for XRP, as multiple versions of wrapped or bridged Bitcoin on XRPL would require XRP to bridge between them. Digital Asset Investor called this a confirmation of what long-term XRP holders have suspected all along.
Ripple, the IMF and World Bank
Ripple’s policy lead Rahul Advani appeared at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok, speaking about what institutions now require from stablecoins: credible 1:1 backing, regulatory supervision, and compatibility with existing banking infrastructure.
Advani referenced the GENIUS Act in the U.S., MiCA in the EU, and proposed frameworks in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan as a converged standard.
A stablecoin failing to meet classification conditions, he noted, attracts a 1,250% risk weighting under proposed Basel guidelines. That single number determines whether it is economical for any bank to hold.
Digital Asset Investor had a rhetorical question for his audience: “Why in the hell would the IMF and the World Bank and all these huge global organizations need a little startup called Ripple in the room?” He added, “I think the question answers itself.”
Hundreds of Trillions Moving On-Chain
Matt Hougan put the size of the opportunity in plain terms. Equity markets sit at $150 trillion, bond markets at $300 trillion, and real estate at $250 trillion. “All of that is going to move on chain,” he said, projecting the total at hundreds of trillions of dollars. Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Robinhood, the SEC, and the CFTC are all signaling the same direction.
Sandy Kaul of Franklin Templeton told viewers that the current quiet period in crypto is historically the best entry window. “When the markets are the most quiet and boring is the best time to get into those markets.”
The on-chain migration is no longer theoretical. The plan is executing, the institutions are present, and XRP is positioned at the center of it.
