About one in every five $MON tokens is now staked, according to data from @Coinbase. The figures indicate that roughly 20% of the native token of @Monad is locked on the Layer 1 network itself, with a reported staking yield of more than 9% APY.
Why Monad Holders Are Staking MON
Monad runs on proof of stake. According to the project's documentation, staking determines validator voting weights and each epoch's leader schedule in MonadBFT.Validators must stake at least a minimum amount, and others can delegate to them.
Rewards come from inflationary block issuance. Each validator sets a commission rate that determines what share of the block reward it keeps before the remainder goes to delegators. That structure means yields can vary by validator and by how much of the supply is staked overall.
Published yield figures also differ by platform. Kraken lists 7.73% APY for flexible MON staking and 16.03% for bonded staking. Readers should check current rates with their chosen provider, as these numbers change frequently.
Staking ratio estimates for MON vary too. Coinbase's own staking page for Monad listed a 15.29% staked share at the time it was indexed. That suggests the figure moves over time and depends on how supply is measured.
How Monad Compares With Injective and Avalanche
Even at 20%, Monad has some way to go before matching the staking ratios of established Layer 1 networks such as @injective and @Avax.
Coinbase data shows Injective's staking ratio at 48.14%.For Avalanche, the same platform lists a staking ratio of 42.66%. Other trackers show similar ranges. Staking Rewards puts Avalanche at 44.86%.
Staking ratios matter because tokens locked in staking contracts are not readily available for sale, and a higher share of staked supply is generally associated with stronger network security. Monad's figure is likely to shift as the network matures and more holders choose to delegate.
Staking ratios and yields change daily, and the figures above reflect the dates on which each source was indexed.
