MoonPay has completed the acquisition of Glide, a crypto infrastructure startup, aiming to improve and expand its digital asset services. The companies revealed the integration of Glide’s deposit and routing technology in a joint announcement on Thursday.

MoonPay’s expansion beyond payments

Founded in 2018, MoonPay provides fiat-to-crypto payment services and has grown rapidly by enabling access to cryptocurrencies for consumers and businesses. With the acquisition of Glide, MoonPay plans to enhance its platform capabilities, shifting from primarily payments to broader digital asset infrastructure solutions.

Glide brings technology designed to simplify how users deposit cryptocurrencies, allowing for more efficient management and movement of funds across different networks and tokens. This move forms part of MoonPay’s infrastructure-focused strategy, which includes recent deals for security, trading, and accounting functionalities.

Glide’s vision for frictionless deposits

Glide was launched in 2023 by Tushar Soni and Qinyu Tong. Both are former Robinhood Wallet team members and set out to eliminate recurring issues encountered by Web3 consumer startups in depositing assets. Glide enables applications to accept deposits from more than 100 tokens across 30 blockchain networks. According to platform documentation, it connects wallets, exchanges, and payment sources, aiming to unify the user experience across fragmented ecosystems.

Soni and Tong stated that, while working at Robinhood, they noticed how users frequently struggled to fund wallets, with assets often stuck on the wrong chain or in the wrong token. They described the challenge as requiring “bridges, swaps, and drop-offs” for each transaction, which led to high complexity and user frustration.

Glide shifted its focus from wallet infrastructure to a single deposit flow, allowing users to fund wallets from diverse sources—chains, tokens, exchanges, or cards—without needing to manually bridge or swap assets.

The acquisition provides MoonPay with Glide’s advanced routing system, aiming to make fund transfers seamless and reduce users’ exposure to errors.

Mini dictionary: Glide is a crypto infrastructure startup founded in 2023, focusing on simplifying crypto deposits by integrating multiple tokens, wallets, and exchanges into a single onboarding process for users and applications.

Integration and recent acquisitions

Following the acquisition, Glide’s technology will be incorporated into MoonPay Deposits, a product already supporting platforms such as Wallet in Telegram, Moonshot, and Paysafe. MoonPay CEO and co-founder Ivan Soto-Wright indicated that this deal aligns with the company’s ongoing expansion into service layers vital for businesses operating with digital assets. Recent moves have included purchases of Sodot, Decent and DFlow, Entendre, and Dawn Labs.

Soto-Wright stated that removing the complexities users face—such as sending the wrong token on the wrong chain—is a core objective, and he predicted that blockchain platforms of the future will require infrastructure making such difficulties “invisible.”

He explained that every acquisition this year adds an essential infrastructure layer, helping users and businesses to move, secure, trade, and account for money within digital assets.

Financial terms of the Glide deal have not been disclosed. MoonPay’s investors include Thrive Capital, Paradigm, Valhalla Ventures, Tiger Global Management, and Coatue, as listed by startup data platform Tracxn.

In late 2025, MoonPay appointed Caroline Pham, the former acting chair of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, as chief legal officer and chief administrative officer. Pham is recognized for her regulatory experience in both traditional finance and digital assets.
