In Brief:
- Revolut secured a Gibraltar DLT provider licence for its new entity, strengthening regulatory oversight of its international cryptocurrency operations.
- Revolut serves over 80 million retail customers, including 16 million crypto users, while maintaining separate regulatory arrangements across European markets.
- Banking expansion in Britain and the United States accompanies EURR stablecoin distribution across selected European markets, supporting broader financial services.
Revolut has secured a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) provider licence in Gibraltar to support its international cryptocurrency operations. According to Revolut, the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission authorized its new entity, Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited, for international crypto operations.
Revolut Strengthens Crypto Licensing Structure Across International Markets
The Gibraltar approval provides a separate regulatory framework for Revolut’s international cryptocurrency operations, although the company has not identified target countries. Revolut also has not provided launch dates for services through the new entity.

Emil Urmashin, Revolut’s general manager for crypto and new bets, connected the authorization with the company’s compliance commitments.
“Securing our DLT authorization from the GFSC reflects our commitment to operating at the highest standards of regulatory compliance,” Urmashin stated.
In Britain, Revolut provides cryptocurrency services through Revolut Ltd, while Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd serves European Economic Area customers. The European entity operates under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, commonly known as MiCA.
The Gibraltar entity adds another licensed structure without replacing Revolut’s existing European arrangements. Revolut reports more than 80 million retail customers worldwide, including over 16 million cryptocurrency users. Its international customer base spans banking, payments, and digital asset services.
Revolut Advances Banking Expansion and Euro Stablecoin Rollout
Revolut has also pursued banking approvals in Britain and the United States as part of its broader international expansion. In March, British regulators lifted restrictions on its banking licence, allowing Revolut Bank UK to launch. September brought conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for its proposed American banking operations.
Separately, Revolut began rolling out EURR, its euro-pegged stablecoin, to selected customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal during August. The company plans wider availability across the European Economic Area during 2026. These initiatives involve distinct regulatory processes covering banking, cryptocurrency services, and stablecoin distribution.
Revolut plans to disclose the Gibraltar entity’s target markets and rollout details following its regulatory authorization for international cryptocurrency operations.
