Ripple Prime has emerged as a prominent player in institutional financial services, focusing on the ongoing shift toward what industry observers have called “Wall Street 2.0,” a financial landscape that increasingly relies on blockchain technology to enable continuous operations.

Institutional expansion through acquisition and blockchain integration

Mike Higgins, who serves as Business Development and Client Director at Ripple Prime, explained in an interview with Markets Media that the current slowdown in the cryptocurrency market does not reflect a retreat from digital asset adoption overall. Higgins stated that global financial markets are steadily advancing toward round-the-clock trading and settlement, prompting strong demand for blockchain networks capable of supporting always-on financial activity.

Higgins credited Ripple Prime’s rapid institutional growth to the acquisition of Hidden Road, a prime brokerage provider now operating as Ripple Prime. By leveraging Hidden Road’s industry expertise alongside Ripple’s established blockchain platforms and broad enterprise relationships, the company reported a threefold increase in institutional revenues following the acquisition. Ripple’s fortified balance sheet has also enabled a boost in lending capacity for clients.

The integration of RLUSD—a U.S. dollar stablecoin that complies with the GENIUS Act—along with the XRP Ledger is expected to further optimize settlement processes, improve capital utilization, and help institutions reduce operational costs.

Mini dictionary: RLUSD is Ripple’s U.S. dollar stablecoin, designed to facilitate fast and compliant on-chain settlements while meeting updated regulatory standards stemming from the GENIUS Act.

Higgins emphasized that, “The current crypto winter is not a digital asset winter,” highlighting rapid adoption of tokenized assets, stablecoins, and enterprise blockchain solutions within mainstream capital markets.

XRP-enabled collateral financing and multi-asset support

Ripple Prime has introduced a new mechanism for institutions to utilize XRP as collateral. Market analyst Chad Steingraber pointed out that the firm now offers depository receipts backed by XRP, giving institutional clients the ability to pledge XRP as collateral and secure U.S. dollar credit lines. This structure allows holders to retain XRP market exposure while tapping into liquidity needed to trade CME futures, all without selling their assets or incurring taxable events.

The collateral platform extends beyond digital tokens. Ripple Prime allows for a broad suite of collateral assets, including U.S. Treasuries, fiat currencies, gold, Bitcoin, other major cryptocurrencies, and BlackRock-managed money market funds. This integrated framework lets institutions efficiently manage liquidity and margin requirements across both conventional and digital financial markets.

Ripple Prime’s introduction of XRP-backed credit offerings enables institutions to unlock capital efficiency while maintaining their exposure to the underlying digital asset market.

Recent developments in U.S. digital asset regulation have also influenced market sentiment. Reports on the resolution of regulatory barriers to the CLARITY Act at the White House have contributed to expectations for a more predictable regulatory environment. Many industry participants view this as a critical catalyst for institutional engagement and expanded adoption of on-chain financial products.

Ripple Prime’s broader vision for 24/7 capital markets

Ripple Prime continues to develop platforms tailored for all-day, every-day market activity, positioning the company, XRP, and the XRP Ledger as foundational elements for the next stage of global finance. By merging multi-asset collateral models with blockchain-powered settlement and compliance solutions, Ripple Prime aims to address the operational needs of institutional clients facing new market dynamics and regulatory requirements.

As more institutions seek to unlock capital efficiencies and reduce operational risk, Ripple Prime’s strategy is to provide infrastructure and products that bridge traditional and digital asset classes in an increasingly global and regulated environment.
