Ripple‘s recently expanding supply of its stablecoin, RLUSD, has propelled its total market value beyond the notable $2 billion threshold. Known for its focus on enterprise payment and blockchain solutions, this American company has accelerated fresh issuances of RLUSD across the Ethereum and XRP Ledger networks.
What’s Behind the Recent RLUSD Movements?
This recent flurry of activity includes significant minting and burning actions. On August 31, within a concise two-hour window, 11 million RLUSD were created through the RLUSD Treasury, with a concurrent burning transaction of an equivalent amount occurring. These synchronized movements are reflective of Ripple’s ongoing treasury strategies geared towards balancing the RLUSD supply across its main operational networks.
How Are the Supplies Distributed?
Data highlights large-scale operations preceding this, such as 15 million RLUSD minted on August 29 and another batch of 20 million RLUSD on the Ethereum network a day earlier. Additional issuances included nearly 20 million RLUSD on both Ethereum and XRP Ledger networks, emphasizing Ripple’s active role in stabilizing and expanding the cryptocurrency’s presence.
Achieving a significant breakthrough on August 28, RLUSD’s circulating supply crossed the $1 billion mark on the XRP Ledger. As reported, by August 20, funds in circulation stood at $1.87 billion, with reserve funds held at $1.98 billion. Ripple commits to monthly independent CPA verification of these data points, underlining its focus on transparency.
Following these developments, RLUSD’s total issuance reached approximately $2.35 billion, with $1.31 billion rooted in Ethereum and $1.04 billion in XRP Ledger, establishing a ratio of approximately 56% on Ethereum and 44% on the XRP Ledger.
RLUSD circulation across Ethereum now leads, surpassing XRP Ledger.
Transparency remains a priority, with independent monthly auditing in place.
Continued emphasis on liquidity scale-up is evident within the strategic framework.
In the early summer months, XRP Ledger briefly took the lead over Ethereum in RLUSD distribution. However, by the end of August, Ethereum regained its dominant position. As RLUSD’s growth continues, its liquidity becomes crucial for sectors like decentralized exchanges and lending applications, highlighting Ripple’s commitment to scaling liquidity.
