Solana (@solana) $SOL has gone 1,000 consecutive days without a network-wide halt, a milestone for a blockchain that was once known for frequent downtime.

Crypto Briefing reported that the streak reached 1,000 days of cluster-level uptime around November 2, 2026, and that the last full stoppage happened on February 6, 2024. TokenPost put the milestone at 4:53 a.m. ET on November 2.

What Caused the Last Halts

Some accounts of the milestone point to February 2023 as the most recent outage. Solana's own records and later reporting indicate a more recent halt. According to the Solana outage report for February 25, 2023, services running custom block-forwarding software transmitted an unusually large amount of data, congesting the Turbine block-propagation protocol. Decrypt reported that this outage lasted nearly 19 hours.

The network then halted again in February 2024. TokenPost reported that validators entered a repeated program-compilation cycle while replaying transactions, which stopped consensus from advancing. Consensus resumed about five hours later. Crypto Briefing attributed the failure to a bug in validator software.

Upgrades and Limits of the Milestone

After the 2023 incident, Solana engineers improved deduplication logic. In its July 2023 network performance report, Solana said proposed upgrades to address the causes included QUIC, fee markets and stake-weighted Quality of Service (QoS).

The stable run has coincided with higher activity. According to Crypto Briefing, average monthly DEX volume on Solana has doubled compared with February 2024, and the number of active traders has grown sixfold.

The milestone has limits. TokenPost noted that it measures time since the last full cluster halt and does not show that every validator, RPC provider or application stayed available throughout. Bitbase reported that a routing failure at an infrastructure provider in August 2026 took validators representing nearly 29% of stake offline, though block production continued.
