A prominent Chainlink holder has disrupted its steady accumulation of LINK tokens by transferring 984,550 LINK, valued at $9.23 million, to Coinbase. This strategic move ends a month-long pattern of quietly gathering tokens and has sparked discussions about a potential sell-off impacting market stability.
Why the Change of Strategy?
The change in course was detected by OnchainLens, a blockchain analysis service, which tracked the tokens moving from the whale’s wallet, identified as “0xF5B007…1d8A1.” Throughout the previous month, the whale absorbed approximately 2.41 million LINK directly from Binance’s hot wallets. However, only part of this amassed wealth has been shifted to Coinbase, indicating a possible shift in strategy by the LINK holder.
After this transfer, the whale still maintains a substantial holding of around 1.43 million LINK, amounting to about $13.43 million at current values. Despite the transfer, onchain insights reveal that this investor holds an unrealized profit of $1.42 million from their remaining position.
Are Resistance Levels a Cause for Concern?
Indeed, Chainlink’s price dynamics suggest critical resistance levels are being tested. The cryptocurrency has been trying to break free from a long-lasting downturn since earlier peaks in 2024 and 2025. Currently, LINK found some support near a local bottom of $6.35, hinting at a possible trend reversal.
The 200-day moving average acts as a significant technical obstacle, stationed at $9.4117. Traders are eager to see if LINK can push past this point or if it will retreat under selling pressure. Meanwhile, the shorter-term moving averages provide support, clustered between the $8.23 to $8.48 range.
Momentum indicators present a moderately positive picture, with the RSI suggesting sustained buyer interest, although resistance is not easily overcome. This mix of signals generates a landscape open to differing interpretations.
- 200-day Moving Average: $9.4117 (resistance)
- 23-day/50-day MA: $8.23–$8.48 (dynamic support)
- RSI: 56.84–60.09 (moderately bullish)
- Local Bottom: $6.35 (recent support)
The potential paths for LINK largely depend on whether the whale’s transfer signifies an imminent market sale or a strategic repositioning like an OTC deal. If the Link is meant to enter Coinbase’s trading activities, it could challenge price levels near $8.20 to $8.50 due to heightened supply pressures. Nevertheless, an invisible OTC transaction could help LINK attempt a leap past key resistance toward $10.
Conversations around Chainlink’s potential reversal hinge on whether sales pressure weakens at critical resistance thresholds.
