An unidentified XRP wallet has emerged as one of the largest accounts on the XRP Ledger, holding more than 1.8 billion XRP worth roughly $2.7 billion at current prices.
Crypto analyst Steph Is Crypto called attention to the address, noting in his tweet that its identity remains publicly unknown. The wallet now ranks eighth among XRP accounts, placing it alongside major exchange and Ripple-linked wallets.
Mystery Wallet Holds 1.8 Billion XRP
The wallet address rJ9Ey7HbscSECamgDRzvw5wrVbFUgaUDt7 holds approximately 1,801,172,630 XRP. At XRP prices between $1.50 and $1.55, the balance is around $2.7 billion to $2.8 billion.
The holding also accounts for roughly 1.8% of XRP’s 100 billion supply. Its position on the XRP Ledger rich list makes the address particularly notable because only seven accounts currently hold more XRP.
Ripple-linked escrow and operational wallets hold the first six positions, with each holding around 5 billion XRP. Bithumb’s wallet ranks seventh with approximately 1.815 billion XRP. The unidentified wallet follows closely in eighth place, ahead of Binance and Upbit wallets.
Steph Is Crypto described the address as a “MYSTERY WALLET” and pointed out that no public information identifies its owner.
Wallet History Reveals Large XRP Deposits
On-chain records provide information about the wallet’s history, though they don’t reveal the owner’s identity. XRPSCAN and Bithomp data show that the address became active on December 1, 2024, when it received an initial transfer of 10 XRP.
The wallet later received a much larger transfer in April 2026. A deposit of about 35.2 million XRP pushed its holdings above the 1 billion XRP mark and contributed to its rise among the largest XRP accounts.
The address has since accumulated more than 1.8 billion XRP, placing it directly among wallets associated with major exchanges and Ripple’s large XRP holdings.
Ownership Remains Unidentified
The absence of a public label leaves several possibilities for the wallet’s ownership. The address could belong to an exchange that blockchain tracking platforms haven’t labelled publicly. It could also be an institutional custody wallet that holds XRP on behalf of multiple clients.
Large custodians often use blockchain addresses to manage assets for institutions or other customers. As a result, the balance does not necessarily mean one individual controls all 1.8 billion XRP.
The wallet could also belong to a high-net-worth investor or another entity that has chosen not to identify its address publicly. However, the available on-chain data does not establish who controls the account.
Why The Wallet Matters
Market participants closely monitor large XRP wallets because significant transfers can move between private wallets, exchanges, and custodial services. A transfer into an exchange wallet can indicate preparation for trading, while movements between private or institutional addresses can have different explanations.
For now, the address remains one of the ledger’s largest unidentified XRP accounts. Its $2.7 billion-plus balance and eighth-place ranking make it a significant wallet to monitor, while its ownership remains undisclosed.
