Raoul Pal wants investors to stop looking at price charts and start looking at what is actually being built underneath them.

In a post on X, the Real Vision CEO and macro investor made his most expansive case yet for why crypto's real significance has nothing to do with token prices going up or down, and everything to do with the infrastructure being built for a machine-driven economy that hasn't fully arrived yet.

"Most people still think crypto is about tokens going up and down. It isn't. Or at least, that's the smallest part of what's happening," Pal wrote in the post.

Money moving at silicon speed

Pal's central argument is about velocity. Human financial systems, banks, clearinghouses, payment networks, operate at human speed.

What's being built on blockchain rails operates at machine speed. "Money is about to start moving at silicon speedBillions of agents transacting with each other, negotiating, settling and running full businesses at a velocity no human system can match," he wrote.

The implication is significant. When AI agents begin conducting commerce autonomously, paying for compute, settling contracts, running supply chains, they will need financial infrastructure that doesn't require human approval at every step.

Onchain rails, in Pal's view, are the only systems built for that tempo.

Regulation is already behind

Pal was blunt about the regulatory picture. "Politics won't be able to keep up. Regulation is like trying to catch a butterfly net," he further wrote.

Once machine economies are running in the background with their own rails, money, and transaction logic, he argued, human oversight frameworks will be structurally incapable of keeping pace.

Owning the operating system

Earlier Pal has argued that crypto could generate more wealth than the world's top billionaires combined, framing it not as speculation but as participation in a foundational technology shift.

Wednesday's post sharpens that argument further. "Onchain rails are the only thing built for that tempo. Which is why owning a piece of it is owning the operating system the next economy runs on," he wrote.

For Pal, token prices are the smallest part of the story. The infrastructure underneath them is what actually matters.
