XRP closed out August at $1.35, slipping slightly after touching a high near $1.70 earlier in the month. The coin now needs a move of roughly 52% from current levels to hit $2. That is not a small ask, and it depends on clearing resistance zones at $1.55 and $1.70 first.
Traders watching XRP right now are focused on one thing: whether the coin can hold its support and build enough momentum to test higher levels before the month ends.
What is XRP's price doing right now?
Based on the latest CoinGlass data, XRP is trading at $1.3131, down 4.75% on the day, a drop of about $0.065. Its market cap sits at $82.64 billion, with open interest at $2.99 billion.
Futures volume over the past 24 hours came in at $4.01 billion, up 24.38%. Spot volume is smaller, at roughly $847.95 million. Open interest fell 5.14%, which suggests some traders are closing out derivatives positions rather than adding new ones.
Options activity tells a different story. Options volume jumped 143.54% to $3.05 million, and options open interest rose 3.67% to $77.45 million. That points to some traders positioning for bigger price swings ahead.
Are traders betting long or short on XRP?
The numbers lean bullish, at least in terms of positioning. The 24-hour long/short ratio sits at 0.9249 overall, but individual exchanges tell a more one-sided story.

OKX XRP accounts

More traders are positioned long than short across nearly every exchange. That heavy long tilt has also meant heavier long-side liquidations during recent price dips.
How much has been liquidated in XRP recently?
Liquidations have been stacking up on the long side as XRP pulled back from its August highs.

Nearly all the pain has landed on long positions. That is a common pattern when a coin cools off after a sharp run-up, as leveraged buyers get squeezed out on the way down.
For context, XRP has a circulating supply of 62.74 billion tokens, a total supply of 99.98 billion, and a max supply capped at 100 billion.
Is the XRP ETF still seeing inflows?
Yes, and this is one of the few clearly positive signals right now. The XRP ETF pulled in $14.38 million in net inflows on the very first day of September.
Zooming out, the last eleven days added up to about $170.30 million in net inflows, a fairly steady streak rather than a choppy one.
Monthly totals back this up too:
Month
Net Inflow/Outflow
March
-$31.16M (outflow)
June
+$59.46M
July
+$27.29M
August
+$159.18M
Every month since March has stayed positive except for that one outlier. Cumulative net inflow into the XRP ETF is now near $1.68 billion, with total net assets around $1.44 billion.
Last week alone, US spot XRP ETFs added over $110 million in accumulated XRP. That is real institutional demand showing up even while the spot price has been sliding.
What price levels matter most for XRP right now?
As per Ali, more than 4.8 billion XRP were bought up between $1.31 and $1.38. That makes this zone a critical support area, and it is currently being tested.
On the hourly chart, XRP looks like it's forming a bullish flag pattern. An hourly close above $1.38 would confirm a breakout and put the $2 target back in play.
Until that happens, the $1.31 to $1.38 range is the one to watch closely.
Will the CLARITY Act affect XRP price?
Possibly, and this is the biggest wildcard for September. The Senate left for recess on August 8 with the CLARITY Act, a bill that would classify XRP and other tokens as digital commodities, still stalled.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune has since filed a cloture motion, a procedural move meant to end debate and push the bill toward a vote. That cloture vote is scheduled for September 15 and needs 60 votes to pass.
If the Senate passes the cloture motion and quickly sets a date for a final vote, that could be a strong catalyst for XRP.
Could XRP hit $2 in September?
It is possible, but it has been a tough level to crack. XRP has not managed to hold above $2 in nearly 8 months. It peaked at $1.70 on August 22 before falling back to $1.32.
For XRP to make a real run at $2, it likely needs three things to line up together this month:
XRP ETF weekly inflows staying above $110 million throughout September
Bitcoin holding above $80,000 for the month
Progress on the CLARITY Act, ideally a scheduled final vote
If all three happen, clearing the $1.70 and $1.83 resistance levels becomes a realistic path toward $2. Without them, a more measured range between $1.50 and $1.80 by month's end looks more likely.
None of this is guaranteed. Crypto markets move fast, and sentiment can shift with a single headline out of Washington or a sudden move in Bitcoin.
