Retail Wallets Make Up the Bulk of XRP Accounts
Data from the Ripple native rich list paints a clear picture of how unevenly $XRP is distributed across its growing network. More than 4 million accounts hold between zero and 20 XRP, while another 2.55 million accounts sit in the 20 to 500 XRP range. Together, these smaller wallets represent the overwhelming majority of addresses on the ledger.
By contrast, only 322,083 accounts hold at least 10,000 XRP, roughly 4% of the more than 8 million total XRP accounts tracked on-chain. The top 0.1% is even more exclusive: just 8,053 accounts hold at least 275,026 XRP each.
As of early 2026, the XRP Ledger surpassed 7.85 million activated addresses, a sharp increase from the 4.5 million range recorded in 2023. That growth reflects broader retail participation, but the data makes clear that most newcomers are entering with modest positions.
Concentration at the Top Remains High
Ownership concentration is distinctively high, with the top 50 wallets controlling roughly 43% to 45% of the circulating supply. A large share of those top wallets belong to institutions rather than individuals. Ripple Labs remains the largest single XRP entity, managing tens of billions of tokens across corporate treasury and locked escrow accounts, while centralized exchanges dominate the top visible wallets, though those funds primarily represent aggregate retail user deposits rather than the platforms' own wealth.
Moving into the elite tier requires considerably more than most retail holders carry: the top 1% threshold currently stands at roughly 46,323 XRP, while reaching the top 0.5% demands approximately 83,082 XRP. The most exclusive tier, the top 0.01%, commands holdings exceeding 3.83 million XRP, a bracket occupied almost exclusively by exchanges, institutional custodians, and Ripple's own operational wallets.
The distribution highlights a dynamic common across major crypto networks: a vast base of small holders provides broad participation, while a narrow tier of large wallets holds disproportionate supply. For $XRP, the ledger's transparency means anyone can verify their position in real time using tools such as XRPScan.
