The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has surpassed 13 million agentic transactions, significantly expanding the role of autonomous AI agents in processing real-world payments. J. Ayo Akinyele, Head of Engineering at RippleX, reported this milestone and noted the network now supports 166 x402 merchants, with agentic payments constituting approximately 25% of total ledger activity.
Earlier this year, Akinyele had anticipated that XRPL would quickly exceed 10 million agentic transactions, a benchmark achieved and surpassed in a short span. He indicated that the pace of adoption continues to accelerate, suggesting that 100 million transactions might be reached sooner than initially expected.
These AI-powered agents autonomously pay for APIs, computing resources, and data without needing human intervention for each transaction. The underlying system must offer fast, predictable, and stable-cost infrastructure to support this level of automation.
XRPL delivers transactions in 3 to 5 seconds, with costs set in advance, and eliminates the uncertainty of gas auctions or fluctuating fees. This predictability allows agents to function within predefined budgets, as the ledger was designed with these capabilities in mind.
To help developers build agentic solutions, Ripple introduced the XRPL AI Starter Kit. This toolkit includes an XRPL Docs MCP Server for direct integration with compatible clients such as Claude and Cursor, streamlining access to essential documentation.

RLUSD provides price stability for workflows that require predictable transaction values.
