Investor and crypto analyst Anthony Pompliano says President Donald Trump's proposed $5,000 stimulus checks could send Bitcoin, gold and land prices higher, reviving a debate over how government payouts move hard assets.

In a post on X, Pompliano argued that the more money Washington hands out, the higher Bitcoin, gold and land tend to climb.

Trump announced yesterday that he is going to give out $5,000 stimulus checks. The more money he hands out, the higher bitcoin, gold, and land will go,” he wrote in the post.

His comment followed Trump's pledge at the Republican Party's midterm convention in Dallas to issue a $5,000 "dividend" to every adult citizen if Republicans retain control of Congress in November.

Trump has not detailed how the payments would be funded, and the plan would reportedly cost more than $1 trillion. Vice President JD Vance later suggested tariff revenue could cover it, with high earners excluded.

Bitcoin's latest rally has another driver

Pompliano's stimulus comments aren't his only recent take on Bitcoin's trajectory.

Earlier this week, he pointed out that Bitcoin's strong run over the past month has been driven less by fresh outside money and more by capital shifting within the crypto ecosystem itself.

He noted that investors aren't cashing out stock holdings to buy Bitcoin, but are instead converting stablecoins already parked in crypto into BTC.

To him, that distinction matters: money moving out of equities would signal a broader shift in risk appetite, while stablecoin conversions suggest sidelined crypto capital is simply rotating toward Bitcoin, an early sign, in his view, that further gains could follow.

He stopped short of giving a price target or timeline. Bitcoin was last trading near $78,900.

What happened last time

Crypto's reaction to Trump's latest promise has so far been subdued, with Bitcoin holding near $76,000 to $78,000.

But history offers a different picture. After the $1,200 CARES Act checks went out in April 2020, Bitcoin, then trading near $6,900, climbed to about $29,000 by year-end.

A second $600 round of payments in December 2020 was followed by another rally, pushing Bitcoin toward $40,000 by early January 2021.

From March 2020 through March 2021, Bitcoin gained roughly 788% and Ethereum surged over 1,264%, aided by a weakening dollar.

However, the effect faded over time. By the third stimulus round in March 2021, analysts found no meaningful uptick in stimulus-linked crypto buying, suggesting Pompliano's bullish call may not play out as cleanly this time around.
