Analyst warns Bitcoin rally isn't over, here's where money is flowing

According to prominent investor Anthony Pompliano, Bitcoin "had a great run over the last 30 days," but argued the more telling signal lies in how investors are funding their purchases.

Pompliano said in an X post on Sep. 8 that the money into Bitcoin is flowing from the crypto ecosystem itself instead of liquidations of equity holdings.

He said that investors "are not selling their public stocks to buy bitcoin," but are instead "converting stablecoins into bitcoin."

This pattern "suggests there is much more appreciation to come," he framed it as a sign of internal rotation within crypto markets rather than a broader shift of capital away from traditional assets.

Why the distinction matters

Analysts often watch the source of buying pressure as closely as the price action itself. Capital moving out of equities and into bitcoin can signal a shift in investor risk appetite across asset classes.

Money moving from stablecoins, however, points to funds already parked in crypto simply repositioning toward bitcoin, which some see as an early-stage indicator that more of that sidelined capital could follow.

Pompliano did not offer a price target or timeline in his post, but his comments add to a growing chorus of voices tracking on-chain flows as a leading indicator for bitcoin's next move.

With stablecoin reserves still substantial across major exchanges, the question now facing traders is how much of that capital could still make its way into bitcoin in the weeks ahead.

Last week, billionaire Dan Morehead said that Bitcoin may be entering another extended bull cycle.

He argued that Bitcoin and crypto should increasingly be viewed as a macro trade rather than simply speculative assets. He pointed to continued money printing and weakening fiat currencies as factors that could benefit hard assets such as Bitcoin.

Bitcoin was trading at $78,888 at the time of writing, as per Decibel.
