Aster DEX adds peer-to-peer OTC desk for perpetual contracts

@Aster_DEX has launched over-the-counter (OTC) trading on its platform, giving counterparties a way to negotiate and open perpetual positions at a privately agreed price, bypassing the public order book entirely. $BTC perps (BTC-USDT) are the first market available, with additional pairs set to follow.

The mechanics are straightforward. One party sets the terms of the trade and generates a Deal Code. The second party receives that code and signs to accept the deal. To protect both sides from pricing that strays too far from fair value, the agreed price must remain within 8% of the prevailing mark price.

OTC trading has long been a tool for larger participants who want price certainty without moving the market. Crypto OTC allows buyers and sellers to transact directly outside public exchanges, with trades happening privately between parties rather than through a public order book. The key advantage is that large positions can be opened or closed without the slippage or signalling risk that comes with routing a big order through a live order book.

Where OTC fits inside Aster's broader roadmap

Aster is a perpetuals-first decentralized exchange running on BNB Chain, with deposit support from Ethereum, Solana, and Arbitrum. The platform has grown rapidly since its token launch and has been expanding its product suite steadily. OTC trading appeared as a planned feature on the project's official roadmap, described as support for private over-the-counter perpetual transactions between users, allowing them to trade at mutually agreed prices without relying on the order book.

The launch is a practical step for traders who need to move size quietly, particularly in a derivatives market where price certainty is a major factor: in an OTC workflow, the client receives a firm quote, and if accepted, the trade executes at exactly that price, with no partial fill risk and no uncertainty about the final average price.

BTC-USDT perpetuals are the starting point, but Aster has indicated that more markets will be added. The 8% mark-price band acts as a guardrail, keeping bilaterally agreed prices anchored close to the wider market rate and limiting the potential for extreme off-market prints.
