Eligible institutional clients will be able to stake bitcoin directly from their BitGo accounts and earn rewards paid in bitcoin, while their bitcoin stays on the Bitcoin network under BitGo’s qualified custody.
NEW YORK, November 3, 2026 – BitGo Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: BTGO) (“BitGo”), the digital asset infrastructure company, and Stacks Labs, have today announced Bitcoin Staking with Stacks for institutional clients. Institutional clients of BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association (“BitGo Bank & Trust”) can stake BTC directly from their existing accounts and earn rewards paid in BTC, with their Bitcoin remaining on the Bitcoin network in BitGo’s qualified custody.
Institutional clients holding Bitcoin with BitGo Bank & Trust can now stake it through Bitcoin Staking with Stacks, without moving it to a new provider or off the Bitcoin network.
Bitcoin Staking with Stacks is built for institutions and holders that want to earn BTC rewards on their Bitcoin without moving it out of their custody provider or setup of choice. The Bitcoin never leaves the Bitcoin network: it is timelocked with standard Bitcoin script for the length of the bond and, forBitGo Bank & Trust’s clients, stays in the qualified custody they already use, not lent out, bridged or wrapped. Each bonding period has a target rate that is set before the period opens and applies for the full term. The contract is designed to deliver that target, though the realized rate can vary due to the timing of miner reward distributions. Principal is returned at maturity, and the protocol does not include slashing.
Each position pairs BTC with STX at 5% of the BTC’s value. It is bonded for about six months and pays BTC rewards. The rewards come from Stacks miners, who spend BTC on the Bitcoin network to mine Stacks blocks, so the rewards do not depend on lending out or rehypothecating the staker’s Bitcoin.
“Institutions hold their Bitcoin with custodians they trust, and that is where Bitcoin Staking needs to meet them. On the BitGo platform, clients can earn BTC on their BTC without changing how they custody it,” said Muneeb Ali, Founder of Stacks and CEO of Stacks Labs.
For institutions, how they earn rewards on their bitcoin matters as much as the rewards themselves. With this integration, eligible clients can stake from their existing BitGo accounts and receive rewards in BTC while their bitcoin remains in qualified custody.” said Nathan Stump, Managing Director and Head of Ecosystem Sales.
Bitcoin Staking with Stacks launched in September with the Genesis Bond, the first institutional bonding period, which sold out. Following a sold out second bonding period in October, BitGo’s integration opens the next phase, giving institutions that hold BTC in qualified custody a direct route into upcoming bonds.
