DAO Steps Back From Block Production
@Coredao_Org is pushing deeper into decentralization, with the project preparing to hand block production responsibilities entirely to independent validators over the coming months.
Since the network's launch in 2023, the DAO's own validators played a key supporting role in keeping block production running continuously. That arrangement helped stabilize the network in its early stages, but it was always intended as a temporary measure. Independent validators have already been carrying out operations under the network's existing framework, and the DAO is now ready to step back from that function altogether.
The transition is a natural extension of how Core was designed. On the Core blockchain, validators are essential nodes responsible for maintaining the network's security, decentralization, and integrity. They validate transactions, produce new blocks, and participate in governance through Core's Satoshi Plus consensus, which blends Delegated Proof of Work (DPoW), Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), and Self-Custodial Bitcoin Staking to ensure decentralization, security, and scalability.
How Satoshi Plus Supports Independent Validators
The Satoshi Plus consensus selects validators based on a hybrid scoring system that considers delegated Bitcoin, CORE tokens, and Bitcoin hash power. Validator sets are rotated periodically, and validator elections occur in epochs, typically every 24 hours, to select the top 31 active validators based on their hybrid scores.
The election process allows miners and stakers to participate in validator selection, promoting decentralization and preventing the concentration of control. By removing the DAO from block production, Core aims to ensure the network is governed by a broad, permissionless set of independent operators rather than any centrally coordinated group.
Validators operate independently and globally, ensuring fair participation. The gradual handover reflects the DAO's broader vision: a network that runs on its own, sustained by the economic incentives and community participation that Satoshi Plus is designed to encourage.
The move signals a maturation of the Core network and aligns with the principles its consensus mechanism was built on from the start.
