RedStone (@redstone_defi) has connected its price feeds to DogeOS (@DogeOS), the application layer being built on Dogecoin by the team behind the MyDoge wallet. The feeds are live on the DogeOS public testnet, and RedStone support is planned from mainnet launch. The integration is meant to give lending markets, perpetual futures and stablecoins the live prices they need to operate.
Why oracle data matters for Dogecoin DeFi
Decentralised finance apps depend on oracles to pull in external market prices. According to Crypto Economy, those prices let protocols calculate collateral values, price loans and execute liquidations. They can also be used to check whether the reserves behind an asset-backed stablecoin meet required thresholds.
Crypto Briefing reported that the companies describe RedStone as the first oracle provider in the Dogecoin ecosystem. It said developers can price collateral, trigger liquidations and settle trades without building their own oracle infrastructure. The same report said RedStone's services are already deployed across more than 110 blockchain networks.
Dogecoin's original network was not designed to run smart contracts. Crypto Economy noted that this has historically limited the use of $DOGE in financial applications, despite more than 10 million wallets associated with the coin, according to RedStone. DogeOS CEO Jordan Jefferson said the integration would support more sophisticated financial applications and expand the utility of $DOGE.
How DogeOS works and what comes next
DogeOS runs Ethereum-style smart contracts on a network that settles back to Dogecoin, with fees paid in $DOGE. Decrypt reported that it is an EVM-compatible rollup running on a zkVM, operating as a separate layer rather than changing the coin itself. That means wallets and tools built for Ethereum can work on it.
The public testnet opened on Sept. 30. Teams named as building on it include a lending protocol, a perpetual exchange, a CDP stablecoin and a prediction market aggregator, according to Unchained via Yahoo Tech. DogeOS said availability would depend on each team's schedule.
There are caveats. Unchained reported that the rollup currently relies on validators and a permissioned sequencer, and that native proof verification on Dogecoin would need a proposed upgrade that has not been implemented. No mainnet date has been set, and Jefferson has said the timeline will be shared as development milestones are reached.
For now, the RedStone integration adds a core piece of DeFi infrastructure to the testnet ahead of any mainnet launch.
