ECOIN Wallet 1.8.7 — Preparing the Ground for Our Next Big Launch

Hardware Wallet Foundation Begins

Today we’re releasing ECOIN Wallet 1.8.7 — one of the most important structural updates we’ve shipped so far.

While this version includes multiple improvements, fixes, and internal optimizations, its biggest purpose happens behind the scenes:

laying the foundation for the future Ecoin Hardware Wallet ecosystem.

Over the past months, we’ve been redesigning core parts of the wallet architecture with a strong focus on security, encrypted device operations, and the expansion of ECOIN Wallet beyond software into real physical secure-wallet devices.

This marks the beginning of ECOIN Wallet entering the next generation of self-custody alongside established hardware wallet solutions such as Ledger.

Most of these changes still remain invisible to users for now — and that’s intentional. However, some early traces are already visible inside the app, including the new wallet startup flow that quietly previews the upcoming Hardware Wallet integration.

🔐 Hardware Wallet Preparation Starts Now

This update brings new infrastructure related to wallet initialization, encrypted storage, authentication flows, secure device communication, and future wallet-type management.

Beyond the app itself, we’re also preparing the operational side for the next phase, including infrastructure, onboarding systems, logistics, and future distribution planning.

Most of this work happens entirely behind the scenes, but it represents one of the largest architectural upgrades ever made inside ECOIN Wallet.

Security Changes

🔑 PIN creation flow redesigned and moved after WelcomeChoice
🔐 Displays Software Level protection status when StrongBox cannot be used
🛡️ The app now detects when device PIN protection is disabled and warns users about possible lack of hardware-level security

Fixes

🪲 Fixed rounded corners on sheets when blur is disabled
🪲 Updated DApp connection & signature modal to the new One UI 8 visual
🪲 Fixed Aster DEX address
🪲 Fixed unwanted screen rotation inside DApp Browser
🪲 Fixed partner session issues preventing correct partner version installation
🪲 Fixed crash when generating StrongBox keys on devices without device PIN enabled

🚀 Looking Ahead

Version 1.8.7 is the first visible step toward a much larger vision for ECOIN Wallet.

This release focuses on building the core infrastructure required for future physical hardware wallet operations before the complete experience is publicly introduced.
