Ethereum Whales Just Locked Over $160M in ETH as $2,300 Target Emerges
CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.

What to Know:

  • Ethereum whales staked over $160 million in ETH as exchange withdrawals and institutional inflows increased.
  • Ethereum ETFs attracted positive inflows while technical analysis identified $1,850 support and a potential rally toward the $2,300 target level.
  • Robinhood Chain, Aztec, Aave, Base, and Ondo expanded Ethereum’s ecosystem, strengthening network utility alongside rising investor participation across markets.

Ethereum whales have locked more than $160 million worth of ETH into staking, strengthening bullish sentiment as analysts identify $2,300 as the next major price target. Large holders have accelerated withdrawals from exchanges while institutional inflows and network expansion reinforce the asset’s broader outlook.

According to on-chain data shared by Lookonchain, several whale wallets accumulated and staked substantial amounts of Ethereum within a short period. The coordinated activity reduced exchange balances and highlighted growing confidence among major investors.

One whale wallet that remained inactive for three months spent $20 million in USDC to acquire 10,501 ETH at an average price of $1,905. Additionally, a newly created wallet withdrew 12,800 ETH worth approximately $24.47 million from Binance before staking the entire balance.

Moreover, two newly created wallets transferred more than 86,000 ETH from Binance and Gemini before locking every token into staking. Combined with the other transactions, these moves accounted for more than $160 million worth of Ethereum leaving exchanges.

According to Lookonchain, an Ethereum ICO participant also became active after 11 years, moving 2,000 ETH. Meanwhile, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes expanded his position by purchasing another 1,332.5 ETH valued at roughly $2.53 million.

Institutional investors have also increased exposure to Ethereum. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs attracted $38.09 million in net inflows on July 20, while spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded another $227 million. The combined performance marked a fifth consecutive session of positive inflows across both products.

Technical indicators have also strengthened alongside the improving fund flows. According to crypto analyst Ali Charts, Ethereum is forming a potential double-bottom pattern with $1,850 acting as the critical support level. The analysis projects a move toward $2,300 if buyers successfully defend that price zone.

Ethereum Ecosystem Records Major Network Milestones

Beyond market activity, Ethereum’s ecosystem has expanded through several notable developments. Robinhood Chain launched on the Ethereum mainnet as a Layer 2 network built on the Arbitrum stack. The platform supports tokenized stock and ETF trading across 120 countries and surpassed $1 billion in decentralized exchange volume shortly after launch.

Additionally, Aztec Network achieved Stage 2 rollup decentralization, while Vitalik Buterin released an updated Lean Ethereum roadmap. Aave introduced Stable Vaults, and Base unveiled new privacy infrastructure designed for institutional settlement.

Furthermore, Ondo Finance launched perpetual futures backed by tokenized stocks as collateral. ETH Labs and the Ethereum Institution also launched as nonprofit organizations supporting Ethereum’s role as a global settlement layer. A regulated investment fund in the United Kingdom selected Ethereum as its legal register of record.

Ethereum traded near $1,930 after gaining more than 8% over the past week. Whale staking exceeding $160 million, improving ETF inflows, expanding institutional participation, and continued network development have strengthened expectations that ETH could challenge the $2,300 level if key support remains intact.
