Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR) has launched cryptocurrency staking for eligible clients, letting them earn rewards on Ethereum while managing crypto alongside stocks, options, futures and other assets on its unified platform. Staking services are provided by digital-asset infrastructure firm ZeroHash, and rewards, when earned, are credited as additional staked ETH that can compound while the position remains staked, according to the company’s announcement.

At launch, eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients can stake Ethereum through a Staking Dashboard in the broker’s Client Portal, where they can submit stake and unstake requests and monitor pending activity. Chief Executive Officer Milan Galik framed the product as the crypto equivalent of the firm’s existing Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which lets clients earn extra income on shares they hold.

“Similar to how our Stock Yield Enhancement Program allows clients to earn additional income on shares they own, staking gives clients an opportunity to earn rewards on the cryptocurrency they own,” Galik said. “We want clients to earn more from the assets they hold.”

Ethereum First, With Availability Varying by Jurisdiction

The initial rollout is limited to Ethereum. Interactive Brokers said product availability varies by affiliate and country of residence, so eligibility depends on the entity holding the account and where the client lives. The announcement did not specify when staking might extend to other proof-of-stake assets.

The launch adds staking to a crypto service that already offers trading in 20 digital assets: Aave, Aptos, Avalanche, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Canton, Cardano, Chainlink, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Lido DAO, Litecoin, Monad, NEAR Protocol, Pax Gold, Plasma, Ripple, Solana, Sui and Uniswap.

Brokers Keep Expanding Into Crypto Yield

The move extends a multi-year build-out of Interactive Brokers’ crypto services, which already include stablecoin funding through USDC, RLUSD and PYUSD and transfers to external wallets. Institutional staking has also been spreading through 2026, with Lido and Stakely launching public and institutional ETH staking vaults in September.

What Remains Unclear

Interactive Brokers did not disclose the staking reward rate, any fee ZeroHash takes from gross rewards, or a timeline for expanding beyond Ethereum. Rewards are not guaranteed, since staking returns depend on network activity, and terms vary by client location. For now, the launch matters mainly as another signal that mainstream brokerages see on-platform crypto yield as a way to keep client assets from migrating to dedicated exchanges.
