Holding a cryptocurrency for five years takes a particular kind of discipline. Price moves, sentiment shifts quickly, and most people sell. A Korean crypto personality known as Jiyeon recently put that experience into words, and the XRP community responded.
Holding Through Every Market Cycle
Jiyeon’s post lays out the psychology of long-term XRP holding with precision. A 10% drop is nothing. She grabs a coffee. A 30% drop triggers a plan to lower her average cost. At 50%, she avoids the charts entirely. At 70%, she “suddenly becomes a long-term investor.” At 90%, she meditates.
Then the market turns. A 10% rise and she calls it the start of something. 100% rise, she pulls out her calculator again to run the numbers. “At this point, I can’t tell if it’s investing or ascetic practice,” she writes. “Before XRP makes me rich, it’ll probably make me enlightened first.”
The post reflects something real. XRP hit $1.96 in 2021, then spent years between $0.30 and $0.50. The court ruling in 2023 pushed it to $0.93 briefly before it dropped again.
It remained near $0.50 until late 2024, when it broke out sharply and climbed above $3. It reached $3.65 in July 2025 and has been consolidating since. These wild swings aren’t easy for most investors, and they just follow as it moves.
XRP and Korea
Jiyeon’s post carries particular weight in the Korean market. XRP is extraordinarily popular in South Korea, consistently outpacing Bitcoin and Ethereum in trading volume. Korean retail investors have long shown a strong preference for XRP, making it one of the most actively traded digital assets in the country. Her post speaks to an audience that has lived this cycle firsthand.
One commenter noted that investing resembles a form of discipline and questioned whether anyone can truly hold through extended pressure while testing themselves in the process. Jiyeon agreed, adding that no one becomes wealthy without difficulty and that there is still reason to hope.
The commenter reinforced the idea that patience, perseverance, and conviction define qualities of a long-term XRP holder. Another commenter joked about checking her account to see if she had become a millionaire yet, only to find herself still heading to work. Jiyeon responded, saying “millionaire dreams, 9-to-5 reality.”
