What to Know

  • Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin Trust surpassed $609 million as sustained investor demand drove purchases across multiple consecutive trading sessions without sales.
  • MSBT attracted $62.2 million over 20 trading sessions, including a $3.8 million Bitcoin purchase recorded during Friday’s market activity alone.
  • BlackRock recorded $19.2 million in outflows, contrasting with Morgan Stanley’s accumulation while Bitcoin volatility remained an important investment risk factor.

Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin Trust has crossed $609 million in holdings as investors increase their exposure through the banking giant’s fund. According to Arkham Intelligence, MSBT attracted $62.2 million during the previous 20 trading sessions despite unstable Bitcoin market conditions.

Investors added capital during 11 sessions across that period, while the fund recorded no sales or negative daily flows. Moreover, MSBT purchased approximately $3.8 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC) on Friday, marking its fourth consecutive session of inflows.

This accumulation reflects growing customer demand for regulated Bitcoin exposure through established financial institutions and conventional investment accounts.* Significantly, the milestone does not represent Bitcoin held directly on Morgan Stanley’s corporate balance sheet.

Instead, the figure covers assets belonging to MSBT investors and managed through the fund’s regulated investment structure. Morgan Stanley designed MSBT to track Bitcoin’s market performance while allowing investors to avoid managing wallets and private keys.

That structure offers easier access for customers who prefer traditional brokerage platforms over direct purchases from cryptocurrency exchanges. However, the fund remains exposed to Bitcoin’s price volatility, meaning its asset value can decline despite sustained investor deposits.

Morgan Stanley Inflows Contrast With BlackRock Bitcoin Withdrawals

Morgan Stanley’s recent activity differed from BlackRock’s performance during the same Friday trading session. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust recorded approximately $19.2 million in outflows, while MSBT added another $3.8 million.

Consequently, the contrasting movements showed investors allocating capital differently across products during a period of uncertain cryptocurrency market direction. BlackRock still dominates the American spot Bitcoin fund sector through its larger asset base and established market presence.

Nevertheless, MSBT’s uninterrupted accumulation demonstrates how another major Wall Street institution is gaining ground within regulated cryptocurrency investing. The fund’s inflows also suggest that some customers view market weakness as an opportunity to build Bitcoin exposure gradually.

Additionally, Morgan Stanley’s wealth management reach could help introduce MSBT to investors already using its brokerage and advisory services. Its regulated structure may appeal to customers seeking simplified tax reporting, familiar account access, and institutional custody arrangements.

MSBT also charges a 0.14 percent expense ratio, placing it among the lower-cost Bitcoin investment products available in America. Lower fees can influence fund selection because management expenses reduce investor returns over extended holding periods.

Even so, Bitcoin funds cannot eliminate the risks connected with price swings, liquidity changes, or broader economic uncertainty. Positive inflows also do not guarantee price appreciation because fund performance remains directly connected to Bitcoin’s underlying market value.

Morgan Stanley’s $609 million milestone strengthens its presence within a sector traditionally led by specialized cryptocurrency asset managers. Sustained customer inflows could expand MSBT further, although Bitcoin’s volatile performance will remain central to its future valuation.
