Peter Schiff delivered one of his most revealing Bitcoin posts in years on Tuesday, admitting for the first time publicly that he regrets not buying Bitcoin when he first learned about it, before immediately pivoting to argue that current holders are about to experience a mirror regret of their own.
A rare admission
"Many people, myself included, regret not buying Bitcoin when they first learned about it," Schiff wrote on X, a statement that drew immediate attention given his decade-long record of dismissing the asset entirely.
The concession was brief and quickly redirected. "Soon, more people will regret not selling Bitcoin above $60,000 when they had the chance," he added.
The post triggered a sharp exchange in the replies. One follower pointed out that Schiff had recommended buying gold above $4,000, a position now down nearly 30 percent.

Schiff's response was direct and he wrote: "Most people who bought Bitcoin are down. Hardly anyone who has been buying gold is down."
$20,000 is still too much
A second reply pushed Schiff further, suggesting his fixation on Bitcoin stemmed purely from having missed the original move and that he would buy heavily if price fell to $20,000. Schiff rejected the premise without hesitation.
"Not a chance. $20,000 is way too much to pay for nothing," he wrote, a statement consistent with his long-standing position that Bitcoin carries no intrinsic value regardless of price level.
What this exchange actually reveals
Taken together, Schiff's posts mark a subtle but notable shift in Schiff's public positioning. The admission of personal regret is new.

The bearish conclusion is not. He has called Bitcoin dead or overvalued at virtually every price level it has since left behind, below $1,000, below $10,000, below $20,000, and now below $60,000.
Whether his latest prediction proves more accurate than his previous ones will depend on where Bitcoin goes from its current level of approximately $62,852.
For now, Schiff's regret is on record, alongside his conviction that a fresh wave of it is coming for everyone still holding.
