One Integration for Wallets and Crosschain Payments

Polygon (@0xPolygon) is opening up its Open Money Stack to approved businesses, letting them create unlimited embedded wallets directly inside their existing applications. The wallets are non-custodial, meaning users retain control of their funds, and they support stablecoin balances without requiring customers to leave the app or manage a seed phrase.

The pitch from Polygon is straightforward: a single integration that handles wallet infrastructure and crosschain payments together, rather than forcing developers to stitch together multiple third-party providers. As Polygon describes it, the stack is designed to connect fiat access, wallets, crosschain orchestration, and onchain settlement in one API.

Wallet keys are generated and stored in AWS Nitro secure enclaves, meaning they are never exposed to Polygon, the developer's software, or their team. Account recovery is built in, so users do not lose access if they switch devices.

Polygon Trails Handles the Crosschain Heavy Lifting

Sitting underneath the wallet layer is Polygon Trails, the crosschain routing component of the Open Money Stack. Trails automatically handles routing, swaps, and bridging in the background across more than 20 blockchains, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Solana, Avalanche, and BNB Chain, among others. Users complete a transaction in one step; Trails resolves the underlying complexity.

For businesses, the practical benefit is that customers can pay with any token on any supported chain using any wallet, without the app needing to manage individual bridge integrations. Polygon says Trails has recorded more than 10 million transactions in volume since launch, and that Sequence embedded wallets, which underpin the wallet product, achieve roughly twice the transaction conversion rate compared to standard self-custody flows.

The broader ambition behind the Open Money Stack is to make chain infrastructure invisible to end users, so that sending and receiving money onchain feels as simple as a standard consumer app.
