Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Rakuten Wallet notified the Shiba Inu community of an upcoming promotional event, signaling continued support for the meme coin among its users.

September event features SHIB giveaway

Rakuten Wallet revealed that its Securities Investment Academy, scheduled in Fukuoka for September 12, will include a special presentation by Matsuda, who serves as a senior analyst at the exchange. Attendees with proof of Shiba Inu holdings in their Rakuten Wallet account will qualify for a giveaway featuring “real SHIB coins”—a collectible metal souvenir coin first introduced in July.

The exchange explained that a screenshot capturing SHIB holdings on its platform will serve as sufficient evidence for eligibility. Additional seminars are planned in Sapporo and Osaka in October, with similar SHIB coin giveaways set to occur at these locations as well.

Attendees at the Fukuoka event can present a screenshot of their SHIB holdings in Rakuten Wallet to receive the commemorative SHIB metal coin, with further opportunities planned at upcoming seminars in Sapporo and Osaka.

Physical SHIB coin and Rakuten’s support

In July, Rakuten Wallet launched the first-ever physical Shiba Inu coin utilizing sandblasting technology, also known as a blast finish. This metal item serves strictly as a souvenir and does not connect to the SHIB blockchain or hold transactional functions.

Mini dictionary: Sandblasting technology, also called blast finish, is a surface treatment process that uses high-speed sand particles to create a matte or textured look on metal objects, giving coins a distinctive appearance.

The exchange previously added Shiba Inu to its selection of supported tokens in April. This integration enabled millions of Japanese users to convert Rakuten’s loyalty program rewards, known as Rakuten Points, into SHIB. These points and the token itself can be spent through Rakuten Pay, which has a presence at over 5 million retail locations throughout Japan.

In June, Rakuten Wallet introduced SHIB-focused content to inform users. A dedicated video titled “Understanding SHIB” was produced by senior analyst Matsuda, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to educational outreach within the Shiba Inu community.

Market conditions and altcoin performance

The broader cryptocurrency market remains subdued, with most altcoins retracting recent gains while Bitcoin continues to dominate trading activity. SHIB was trading down 3.61% over the past 24 hours, priced at $0.0000051. At present, the altcoin season index stands at 33 out of 100, indicating low market enthusiasm for alternative tokens relative to Bitcoin.
