Summary
- Scammers impersonated Ripple by promoting fake XRP Holder Tiers, prompting XRPL Foundation director Vet to warn users against phishing websites.
- BankXRP exposed the fraudulent announcement while reminding holders never to connect wallets or reveal seed phrases during verification requests online.
- Firelight and Wietse Wind reinforced security warnings as fake accounts and counterfeit projects targeted XRP community trust across multiple platforms.
Ripple users are facing another security threat after scammers circulated a fake announcement designed to steal XRP from unsuspecting holders. According to XRP Ledger Foundation Director of Community Hussein Zangana, widely known as Vet, the circulating post is entirely fraudulent and users should avoid interacting with it.
According to an X post highlighted by the XRP-focused account BankXRP, scammers created a fake Ripple account and falsely claimed the company had launched “XRP Holder Tiers.” The fraudulent announcement promised exclusive benefits and instructed users to visit a fake website to claim an XRP badge.
Instead, the campaign aimed to trick users into connecting their wallets or revealing their recovery phrases. Once victims complete those steps, attackers can gain access to their wallets and steal their XRP holdings.
According to Vet, the announcement has no connection to Ripple. He urged the XRP community to remain vigilant and ignore the fake promotion. He also stressed that Ripple has never introduced holder tiers or badge claims for XRP owners.

Fake reward campaigns remain a common phishing tactic
Scammers frequently rely on reward-based campaigns to create urgency among cryptocurrency users. In this case, the fake announcement promised exclusive perks to persuade XRP holders to interact with the fraudulent website.
However, Ripple does not require XRP holders to register for benefits, claim badges, or connect their wallets to maintain ownership. Likewise, the XRP Ledger does not operate any official reward program linked to wallet verification.
According to BankXRP, users should never click the malicious link or submit their wallet seed phrases. Those credentials provide complete access to digital assets and cannot be recovered once compromised.
Moreover, the incident reflects a broader pattern of criminals impersonating well-known blockchain organizations to exploit trusted brands. Many of these campaigns also introduce fake tokens or counterfeit websites that closely resemble legitimate platforms.
Earlier, XRPL developer Wietse Wind also warned the community about fraudulent projects claiming to represent the ecosystem. He clarified that no official Xaman token exists and encouraged users to verify announcements through trusted sources.
Additionally, Firelight, a liquid staking protocol built for XRP on the Flare Network, recently warned users about fake social media accounts impersonating its project. The team emphasized that it operates only one official X account, one Discord server, and one website.
Conclusion
The latest fake Ripple announcement highlights how scammers continue targeting trusted cryptocurrency brands to deceive investors. According to Vet and BankXRP, XRP holders should verify every announcement through official Ripple channels and never connect wallets or reveal seed phrases in response to unofficial reward campaigns.
