SBI Digital Markets has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with @EmberProtocol to explore tokenized investment products, with @arbitrum ($ARB) set as the first network for the work.
The agreement aims to combine SBI's product structuring with Ember's onchain infrastructure. TechFlow, citing an official SBI Digital Markets announcement, reported that the two parties will explore the structuring, tokenization and onchain distribution of institutional real-world assets (RWAs).
How the Partnership Is Structured
Under the plan, SBI Digital Markets will contribute asset development, structuring and access to its network of institutional investors. Ember Protocol will provide the tools to issue tokens, run vaults and supply liquidity. According to TechFlow, the products would be designed and distributed by SBI Digital Markets and operated through Ember's infrastructure.
The scope covers the full life of a product. That includes issuance, how investors subscribe and redeem, settlement, and secondary market trading after launch.
An MoU is a preliminary agreement, not a confirmed product launch. No specific assets, launch dates or investment sizes have been disclosed.
Why Arbitrum Was Chosen
The first products are planned to run on Arbitrum, an Ethereum layer-2 network. Steven Goldfeder, CEO of Arbitrum builder Offchain, said products launched on the network can reach active capital and users from day one.
Arbitrum has been courting institutional and tokenization projects. Offchain Labs, which developed the network, announced in a press release that Hancom Group-backed Arowana planned to launch a gold tokenization platform on Arbitrum in March 2026.
SBI Digital Markets is the digital asset arm of Japan's SBI Group. According to a May 2026 SettleMint announcement, it is a Singapore-licensed firm serving institutional investors, and a subsidiary of SBI Digital Asset Holdings. The same release said SBI Group operates across 26 countries and regions.
The deal adds to a series of MoUs SBI Digital Markets has signed with technology partners to develop tokenized financial products. Whether the Ember agreement leads to live products on Arbitrum will depend on further announcements from the companies.
