Gambling platforms: matters arising
In a statement on Monday, Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) denied ongoing reports that it had blacklisted various gambling platforms operating within the State. The authority tagged the publications as both “misleading” and “grossly inaccurate.”
In its response, it noted that the “blacklist” published by these platforms is outdated. According to the authority, several of the operators mentioned have since regularised their positions and are duly licensed to operate within Lagos State.
“LSLGA categorically distances itself from these reports and wishes to state clearly that the information contained therein does not reflect the true regulatory position of the Authority,” part of the statement reads.
In addition, LSLGA said that only verified information released through its official platforms can be trusted. The authority reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of gambling activities in Lagos state and ensuring operators are compliant with regulations.

Dangers of engaging with unlicensed gambling platforms
Amid the existing risks associated with betting, such as financial loss and uncertainty, greater loss awaits trading with illegal gambling platforms. Doing this comes with high risk, such as:
Refusal to pay out on winnings as these sites operate without oversight, and there is no authority to enforce payouts. Engaging with these platforms makes your wins an illusion.
Unauthorised sites do not offer consumer protection. This means that in case of an issue like unfair gameplay, glitches, or a lost balance, nobody will ever help.
Illegal online betting sites run on insecure platforms that expose personal and financial information to serious risks. This makes bio data prone to exploitation by hackers.
When something goes wrong during trading activities, no authority will come to the rescue.
To avoid these high risks, the safe way to gamble and keep financial risk low is by sticking with licensed platforms.
