Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States posted their most significant daily net outflow in nearly two months, partially offsetting the gains from a recent surge in inflows. The combined outflows suggest shifting sentiment among institutional investors after a strong rally over the previous three weeks, during which net inflows had reached $3.8 billion.

Largest ETF outflow since July

According to market tracking firm SoSoValue, the spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $282.6 million in net assets on Thursday. This figure represents the highest single-day net outflow since July 13, when the funds saw $424.7 million exit the market. The latest movement reduced momentum from the robust inflows that characterized recent weeks.

Collectively, spot Bitcoin ETFs now hold $97.5 billion in total net assets. The ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), managed by ARK Invest and 21Shares, led Thursday’s losses with $164 million in outflows. Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust ETF (GBTC), a pioneer in the crypto ETF sector, saw $36 million in net withdrawals, while Fidelity’s FBTC lost $33.6 million.

SoSoValue data showed that over the last three sessions, spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a combined net outflow of $449 million for the week so far. Despite this reversal, overall cumulative net inflows across all spot Bitcoin ETFs remained positive, totaling $55.17 billion since their inception.

Ether and Solana ETFs also see outflows

Spot Ether (ETH) ETFs, which have attracted growing attention as a major investment product in the digital assets market, registered $29.8 million in net outflows on Thursday. This movement erased the majority of the $34.8 million in inflows observed the previous day, highlighting volatility in investor interest.

Spot Solana (SOL) ETFs also faced pressure, recording $483,000 in net outflows on Thursday. These outflows followed a day when the funds attracted $11.7 million in net new investments, based on SoSoValue figures.

The recent outflows across these leading spot cryptocurrency ETFs coincide with a broader period of market adjustment and profit-taking following substantial gains earlier in the month.

Investors withdrew $282.6 million from US spot Bitcoin ETFs, the highest daily outflow since July 13, causing providers such as ARK 21Shares, Grayscale, and Fidelity to report significant single-day net asset losses.
