Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoins have experienced significant declines since the major crash in October 2025.

While BTC and altcoins have fallen by more than 50% during this period, investors are suffering short-term losses. However, research shows that major cryptocurrencies are still profitable in the long term.

According to Delphi Digital’s latest analysis, holding periods of major cryptocurrencies for five years have yielded positive returns for most entry points.

Analytics company Delphi Digital analyzed Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL).

Analysts analyzed daily price data since May 2016 for BTC, ETH, and SOL across all possible 5-year holding periods.

It was stated that staking returns for ETH and SOL were also included in this analysis.

The analysis concluded that, based on the worst-case entry point, Bitcoin’s five-year holding period return is only -13%.

Analysts also retrospectively tested all possible five-year holding periods since May 2016. At this point, analysts reported that Ethereum and Solana had not experienced any periods of negative return, while Bitcoin had only experienced 11 periods of negative return. Even in the worst-case scenario for Bitcoin, the decline was limited to approximately -13%.

Bitcoin held for five years yielded an average return of more than eight times its value, while Ethereum’s return was approximately thirteen times.
